Penbbs Ink Review Extravaganza Proposal

Sorry about the differences, there's no way to know what color settings folks are using when they scan.

As I compared the images from different sellers, some that looked dull in the first images I posted looked absolutely amazing in others.

There are also some nice colors from the previous series as well, but many of the inks are discontinued so I'll just choose a few from the remainder that look intriguing. I'll order them on January 1 or as soon as this thread seems to have died. =P

As soon as payday comes I'll order samples of all the inks suggested in this thread.

Thanks for your patience!

Here we go!

First up will be 11-6 (no. 132) which had the most votes...it's a funky swampy green color.

Very fun thread. I spent a month in Shanghai for work a couple years back and had my Chinese colleagues utilize Taobao and Tmall for various items. The shipping times (often delivered by courier to the office 24 hours later) was amazing! I'll be following along!

Wow, has is already been two years?! My apologies to those who have been waiting for more Penbbs ink reviews. Life got busy, but I have been using the inks. I have another 5 or 6 reviews ready to scan and will keep working through the sample vials.

Out of the about 15 Penbbs inks I've tried so far, all have been excellent. Penbbs offers many unique colors (approaching 400 inks by now!) that are vibrant and have caused no issues in my pens. Although still mostly unavailable outside of China due to Chinese shipping policies, Penbbs has done a great service to the Chinese pen community by providing a wide array of excellent inks for a fraction of the price (in China) of even the less expensive Western manufacturers like Herbin and Diamine.

Stay tuned for more reviews coming soon!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
