Noodler's Proctor's Ledge Ink Review

Thank you for the delightful review. I followed the link from Twitter and was not disappointed. Please review more inks when time permits. I was surprised to read you use a Preppy as and everyday writer. With all the gorgeous pens you show on Instagram, I would not suspect a preppy to be in your bag.

Excellent review +n but I like this ink as I don't find it boring. Maybe since it isn't splashing or dazzling.

Even if it were so, I'd probably buy it (if it's still available) just because of your review.

I like this ink too, thanks for the review. It's complexity and subtlety remind me of Whaleman's Sepia. Too bad it's not available anymore.

I'll loan you my black light and some posters. No, you don't need to give me a sample vial of that ink. Really, you don't. I'm warning you.

:lticaptd:

This made my day. Even more than ToasterPastry's delightful review.

I'll admit that the scans made this ink look tempting. The description of the ink being dry, not so much (I already have Diamine Damson, which is a dry dark purple, and a sample of Whaleman's Sepia which just didn't flow. At all (it was clinging to the sides of the ink chamber for dear life, to the point of possibly being diagnosed with agoraphobia...).

Hmm. Maybe if I mixed them, I could get an ink similar in *color* to Proctor's Ledge.... Because I've been looking a lot at sepia browns recently. Or I could just think about buying a bottle (as of today, they seem to have it in stock at Goldspot.com -- I just checked) and maybe getting a bottle of Photo-flo.

Thanks for the review ToasterPastry. And thank YOU, Jon -- after the largely horrible week I've had, I needed a good laugh.

Excellent - these days, we need all the laughter and lightness we can muster. And I have to say: I'm fortunate to know this Pastry guy and be able to hang out with him at local pen gatherings and whatnot. He's even more fun in person, though not as good looking as his avatar. Life plays cruel tricks.

Goldspot is OOS on this ink.

They have it in stock now.

Okay, I will confess, I had to go get a black light flashlight for this ink .... well, no I needed it for other things too.... I actually really enjoy this ink. It is amazing for creating spooky and creepy drawings. The UV glow shows up even after it is washed. The ink does not become water resistant instantly so you can do great stuff. I really enjoy this ink.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
