I found this at a fleamarket, it´s in good shape and just needed a new sac, the nib is very flexible and marked "wahl 2" and is 18k.

There is a mark below the cap ring (bottom pic), which i can´t figure what means, there is a similar mark on the nib.

It looks like a hallmark, but that doesn't make sense: the process of stamping it would break the celluloid.
But 18k is très nice.

I don't believe I have seen a mark like that. I have a fair number of these Wahl "signature" pens (most of which are not truly "signature" pens).

The 18 K nib makes it one for the French market.  But the hallmark would be on the nib or on any other gold parts.

The mark likely needed to be made with something hot, but also, it looks like it was struck as there are defect in the cap band as well.

Mysterious. Perhaps just some accidental damage that looks so much like a puposeful mark it is making us wonder?

The hallmark is next to the 18 k imprint, the other mark on the nib (which is similar the to the mark on the cap) is visible where the small arrow points,  and to me it looks like the cut-out on the lower cap ring is made to make room for the mark.

Very Interesting.  I am not aware of any hallmarking let alone one as shown was done by the factory in the USA. Also if done by the factory the hallmark on the cap would not have nicked the trim ring. Suggestion: the "hallmark" may be something required by a regulatory body when the pen was imported to a foreign country.  Also the hallmark on the ptyalin plastic of the cap would probably have to have been done with heat as opposed to stamping. The Solid Gold nibs made for the USA market were 14K...18K was required for "Solid Gold" designation in Europe.

Interesting mystery.

Maybe a stamp from a warehouse or store where it was sold originally, some of my old danish MBs have a small stamp (WV) which indicate they were sold at the Wesse&vett departement store.

I have a little Doric with an 18k needlepoint nib. It's still one of my favorite writers and I've bought an awful lot of pens since.

It´s a nice little pen with a lot of flex.
