Penbbs is chinese fountain pen forum. It seems the guys are not only talking about pens but also mixing inks and the moment they've created approximnately 200 inks. Wow. I remember I've seen Lgsoltek reviews of their inks and I had a chance to try opuntia Stricta ink that was rather nice in terms of color and quite plesant to use. Recently I've received samples of few other Penbbs inks.

Rhadiant Orchid is well behaved pinkish violet ink. I would describe it as medium wet. The color doesn't thrill me a lot but I'm able to understand it may appeal to people. The ink doesn't feather and performs well on variety of papers.

Not bad but not great, either. I need it to be darker, more intensive. The drop on the kitchen towel is fascinating.

Thanks for the offer

In the pen this reminds me a bit of the mythical Sheaffer Skrip Persian rose, which apparently exhibited several shades over its product lifetime because of the instability of the dyes.

What a beautiful color! But it's something I'd probably wear, not write with; I prefer more vibrant and saturated purples for that. Thank you for the review!

I'll come up with something eventually.

That's a lovely color on white paper, but it looks ghastly on the cream Leuchtturm. Interesting--I've never seen a color so strongly affected by paper shade before.

On my screen the color looks a bit like De Atramentis Jeanne d'Arc (I forget what the color actually is called in their standard line).  Pretty, but a bit too light to be legible in the long haul.  It does seem to have one nice feature though -- that sort of crisp dark edge lines on the strokes, on the Tomoe River paper.

Thanks for the review.

Radiant Orchid is the Pantone colour of a few years back. Penbbs tried to replicate the colour in ink. They also have Marsala and the two pastel colours from last year. I'm sure they're gonna release the new colour of the year, Greenery.

Great review. Don't forget to thank WebGeckos who made this possible.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I think I shared that one along with Radiant Orchid. Isn't it included in the swap pack?

Hello there, if any of you are wondering how to purchase penbbs inks, the forum distributes the ink through sellers and vendors on taobao. I did a quick taobao search and one vendor that has many seasons (collections) of penbbs ink in stock and the sellers ship overseas for around 30 rmb (4-5$?) and each bottle of 60ml ink only costs 18 rmb (3$?) which is an amazing value. Taobao is in Chinese but I'm sure Google translate will do fine and also allow you to check out the various products of the vendor and the other collections. I do live in China and speak Chinese but I have not purchased any penbbs ink. I'm a high school student so I don't have much time to try this huge variety of inks. I do hope to review some perhaps in the future to share these inks with you. The link for season/collection 13 is: https://item.taobao....ucket=13#detail . If you do have any questions regarding Chinese or how to navigate taobao after using Google Translate please do consider replying in this thread and I will try to be of help.

Thanks!

Pretty!  I wish we could get hold of those!

VanNess carries a good selection of the line. If they don't have a color you wan't, try eBay. I've been able to find a lot of colors there for dirt cheap.

It helps to know some Mandarin, because not everyone provides color swatches. I got the cutest shimmering pink ink from them, because I knew just enough Mandarin to translate the name in the photo as "Peach in the Spring." Which I was relatively sure would be a pretty pink, because Chinese peaches are pink for a while on the outside, not orange.

I decided to give it a try, and I like the ink well enough, although I personally wouldn't have used it for myself. Where it's been popular is with the daughters and granddaughters of assorted friends and relatives. All the ones into the princess thing absolutely adore the "sparkle ink" of my note and signature in their birthday cards. And it sparkles way more than either Diamine or J Herbin.

So it was worth taking the gamble, for that reason alone.
