Nice review. What is the font at the bottom of the picture with the ink spells?

Helvetica Neue Light, my guess...

Am I right, Lgsoltek?

~ It's not yet been released where I live.

A visit to the Montblanc flagship boutique in Shanghai revealed that they're uncertain when it will make it through the elaborate customs approval process.

The pale color appeals to me. I'd love to try it in a broader nibbed pen.

Reminds me of a blue version of the Daniel Defoe ink; good shading, very light in color.

I suspect this will be another MB ink which is panned upon release, and then within a year it will be impossible to replace for a reasonable price.

(Still looking to trade for another bottle of Defoe...)

Great review. And I agree, "why?"

I had seen the review and bought it anyway :headsmack: .

It is the first time I couldn't stand an ink to the point of just dumping the pen fill. I tried to mix

a bit of black with it to see if it was salvageable, but it is so watery that it didn't help.

I'll probably dump the ink and use the bottle (love those bottles).

Well, my wife understands only that mink is not ink, so I have a bottle. I'm glad it shades......(less than I though by far.)

It will have to wait. I have two pens inked with the 'old' MB Diamond.

The wife being in the near, stopped off at my B&M, my other ink hadn't come in, so she bought three let the sales clerk pick three inks. The Miles Davis and two that are not as far as I can tell been reviewed Golden Yellow and Lucky Orange.

I'd never bought a golden yellow ink....well I was thinking of a Diamine glitter ink.

I had it in mind to buy a six pack of Kaweco Orange when my Smoky Quartz shows up.

So much for getting down to less pens.

In a nice small golden metal overlay, no-name with a blind cap....something like a Pfortzheimer clip.... Will have to make a couple photos.

If it loads it loads.

Davis does not shade as much as I had hoped.

Well if I'd taken an hour over the last three years...I'd know how my scanner works. I had one back in the old days of green screen and it didn't do what I wanted so didn't give a dam.

Golden Yellow shades well...even though I've only seen it in reviews...it reminds me of Sheafer's Kings Gold....but a quick look, showed that to be too yellow... It is a golden yellow,

The better the paper the better it shades.

Lucky Orange is towards the darker side. Sort of a run of the mill orange, takes good paper to get even a little bit of shading. :(

Of the three to my surprise I like the Golden Yellow most. :notworthy1: :happyberet:

Hopefully the pictures will load.

Thank you for posting the image showing Miles Davis Jazz Blue.

I'm interested in it, although it continues to be unavailable where I work and live.

Well a broad nib doesn't help... Tastelessness is in its nature.

It stands our better on white paper ;)

It's similar to my Sheaffer blue from the 1990's (red labeled bottle). I rather enjoy it.

Awesome pics and great review!!

Totally agree... Why Montblanc???

By the time I spoke with one of the consultants in a MB boutique before they release it, I was told that something "big" was coming!

Yeah, very big indeed...

That's actually very beautiful, but it wouldn't be very suitable for everyday writing. The shading is stunning. I could see making beautiful flowery cards with it. But not much else.

As a huge Miles fan, I almost set out to get this one sight unseen. However, I've been on a ink-buying moratorium for a while and held off; I've only just now gotten around to taking a look at reviews. Personally, I find the color disappointingly lifeless. I especially wonder what possessed MB to name it after Davis. Given the vivid (!?!) way in which Miles--the "Dark Prince"--tended to express himself, one can imagine what he might say.

ugh. I should have searched for this review first... but I've made the mistake of buying this ink. It's awful! Doesn't look like there's any ink on the paper... smear it with your finger just after writing and see it almost disappear. Giant Sigh!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
