Do Any Of The Reputable Pen Shops Regularly Have Post-Christmas Sales?

I'm new to collecting pens this year, and I benefitted from Wheeler's 20% Black Friday discounts. I was wondering if any other pen shops in the UK, or the EU, regularly have post-Christmas sales, so I can augment my collection at lesser cost.

I usually get my stuff from Cult Pens, prices are invariably excellent

Recently I used Pen Shop and picked up a Faber Castell e-Motion for £43, no gift box or anything but cracking deal - they still have an Ambition (usually near £100) for fifty odd quid

What sort of stuff are you looking to collect?

I have returned to fountain pens (and actually writing letters) after years of neglect. My pens are a mix of a few modern ones picked up at a discount and some more interesting (to me) older pens from ebay and the like - recently got a pair of Reforms for just over a tenner from Spain, a Pilot 78G from Hong Kong for a tenner too. I also have an ebay alert set for any Fountain Pen auctions within 5 miles - nothing yet but you never know. The older and more obscure stuff is cheap fun as far as I am concerned

I've begun a collection of the Montblanc writers editions for now, plus a bunch of other pens and mechanical pencils.

Bureau Direct always has 10% off during the first week of each month, starting on the first Wednesday in the month. Cult Pens and The Journal shop usually have special offers, as does The Writing Desk.

Wheeler's Luxury Gifts had a good offer, and I benefited too. I only had to mention they had Montblanc Shakespeare and Tolstoy ink included in their 20% off, and whoosh, Shakespeare was sold out!

I couldn't afford to buy any pens from them this time, but maybe they will have another discount period when I can buy one. Fingers crossed.

Look here on this com...in the sales section.

Even at reduced prices...sales for new pens...are mostly a bit expensive. (5 or so of mine out of 70 were new.)*****

....I can buy a good to better semi-vintage....mid '90's 70 or Pre '70's vintage top of the line pen for lots less.

You pay more here than on Ebay...but the pen will work...the nib will be in order. The seller has his good name to protect.

****One must realize I was in The Pen of the Week in the Mail Club..... :( ....Then Pen of the Month. Ebay buying.....every once in a while one gets a dud.

Not in our sales section.... :happyberet:

The folks here know what they have, what they are doing, and that's not selling Gramps old pen...not tested, no ink.

In reference to P. T. Barnum; to advise for free is foolish, ........busybodies are ill liked by both factions.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
