Some Flair branded refillable pens, except the red one at the bottom which is branded Paper Mate. The one at the bottom also the only one without advertising on it.

Anyone who wants to post their i'd be interested to see.

No only vintage unfortunately. Seems like a big mistake by Paper Mate as they are very nice pens, and they'd have the Cross customer base for refills too..

This one with "Case twenty year club", which I have seen on other pens and the design of a playing card deck back, is the only refillable Flair I have had which still writes with original refill. It seems to be a later vintage refill as it is plastic rather than the usual metal ones.fpn_1481105090__img_20161206_232119_2016fpn_1481105163__img_20161206_232344.jpg

The red one without any advert on it, showing the Two Hearts logo on the clip rather than the Flair logo. This was fitted with the Cross Document Marker refill, a flourescent highlighter.fpn_1481235946__img_20161208_144654.jpg

This is the remaining one I actually have, although I ordered another one which I am waiting for.

This one is marketed more as Paper Mate but has the Flair logo on the clip.

I bought it as packaged but not sealed.

  • 4 weeks later...

fpn_1484901398__img_20170120_083345.jpgI just ordered this one, NOS sealed in pack, Calgon Corporation promo pen.

This can be partly dated by the text to not before 1968 when Merck & Co. aquired Calgon.

  • 9 months later...

Has anyone else got refillable Flairs? I seem to be about the only person into them, except for a few other people?

I'd love to see some more.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
