Made from an extempore sketch, green ebonite and brass. 158 mm long 28 gms in weight and 14 mm across flats. Nib unit Schmidt no. 6 and Schmidt K5 converter. Hope you like this experiment

It's a great idea and good execution. I think the brass bands need to be thinner. Maybe have each pair of bands consist of a wide and narrow band?

That's stunning. I love the brasswork; it reminds me of Rajasthani chests with inlaid brass and then big brass edge banding on sheesham wood - the contrast between metal and woodgrain effect is similar and to me it seems to give a promise of robustness and security. The pen has real character. Maybe the section is a little slender compared to the more solid feel of the barrel.

 

How did you create the hex shape? Was it difficult?

Too many pens, too little time!

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning.
