I like Konrads a lot too, but I have to curb all of my purchasing desires. I own two and will likely not own more. The only pen I own three versions of is the Jinhao x750, purchased from China for about $3.99 each. I owned more than three Preppies once, but they have all cracked over time and I will not replace any of them.

First it was P45. Then Waterman JIF, Jiffie and JIF 2. Then on to Sheaffer 50s-era Touchdowns - Cadet and Craftman, Admirals, Tuckaway, Snorkel.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

Love my ebonite Konrad but wasn't thrilled with the flex nib. Swapped it for a Knox m and it's wonderful. Thinking about getting more of the plastic ones.

Esterbrook Dollars are the pens I have most of. I am a big fan of their Art Deco design.

FP Ink Orphanage-Is an ink not working with your pens, not the color you're looking for, is never to see the light of day again?!! If this is you, and the ink is in fine condition otherwise, don't dump it down the sink, or throw it into the trash, send it to me (payment can be negotiated), and I will provide it a nice safe home with love, and a decent meal of paper! Please PM me!For Sale: TBA

I have 4 Kaweco Sports (3 classics, 1 AL) and two Preras. Thinking about getting a third Prera in a really obnoxious color for marking essays.

Yet another Sarah.

I'm getting my second Vacumatic. Not sure if that counts! They're just too pretty.

Inked: Aurora Optima EF (Pelikan Tanzanite); Franklin Christoph Pocket 20 Needlepoint (Sailor Kiwa Guro); Sheaffers PFM I Reporter/Fine (Diamine Oxblood); Franklin Christoph 02 Medium Stub (Aurora Black); Platinum Plaisir Gunmetal EF (Platinum Brown); Platinum Preppy M (Platinum Blue-Black). Uhhh. (Where do I begin...?)

A bunch of Konrads (although I've lost two of them), and I seem to have inadvertently started collecting Noodler's Charlie pens (up to five). Plus three FPCs.

A bunch of Esterbrooks, trying to get different nibs on them (although most of them probably need to be re-sacced).

A bunch of Parker 51s (four Aeros, three 51 Vacs); plus a 51 Special, a 21, and a 41.

A bunch of Parker Vacumatics (I think the current count is seven) in different colors, sizes and versions.

A bunch of Parker Vectors (current count is I think nine, including a 4 nib unit calligraphy set; ten if you count the rollerball I paid a buck for at the Ohio Pen Show to (temporarily) harvest the barrel from, since my first one has a crack right at the threads, and apparently that color blue is uncommon.... (the rollerball barrel is definitely the wrong color, but it fits).

Five Sheaffer Snorkels.

Three Parker 45s (all different colors and with different nibs). And a couple of Parker 61s.

And (at current count) 4 Morrison ringtops, including a duplicate of the gold-flll filigree overlay when I thought I lost my first one (and of course turned up a week after I bought the second one...).

A few Pelikans, mostly in the M200/M400 size. But I've lost the *second* Café Crème :crybaby:(and unlike the Morrison it hasn't turned up yet). So I'm really nervous about the concept of paying top dollar for one of the new M405 Stressemans.... Since that would be by far the most expensive pen I'd have ever bought....

What can I say? If I like how a pen writes, or feels in my hand, it only makes sense to go with what works.... B)

Ruth, how do you "lose" a pen? Is it like for the woman with too many children who lived in a shoe? :o

Lost as in, lost. I keep thinking the pen is in the house and just fell down behind the chair or out of my purse, but I haven't found it yet. The first one, along with a Noodler's Konrad, were in a pen case I think I lost at a hotel in Bowling Green KY last spring. I called the hotel a couple of times, but they said they didn't find the case. :(

I also lost a Morrison ringtop about 3 days after losing the second Café Crème. It turned up a week and a half later: the lanyard had somehow gotten caught on one of the clips holding the glass panel in the storm door, and the pen itself had unscrewed itself and had fallen in the crevice between the storm door and the regular front door, but fortunately the nib did not appear to have sustained any damage. But it reminded me of why I had vowed to stop taking that pen out of the house.... :headsmack: And of course I found it *after* I lucked into a replacement pen (although possibly with not as good a nib) at the Ohio Pen Show.... :glare:

Ruth - Sorry to hear you lost the second Cafe Creme! I feel for you.

Let's see - counting the desk pen/set I have five Parker 45's (two of which are Flighters), five Esterbrook J series pens (3 J/1 LJ/1 SJ) - I do want to complete the color set on the J's. I need red, blue and copper.

At one shot I lost a Parker 51 Special set with MP, two Parker 45's (one a Flighter), two Pelikan M205's (Toledo Red and Black) a M150 and a 120 Merz & Krell. That was about 18 months ago. They were in a pen wrap I got from alc3261 in a PIF she did. That was devastating. Fortunately none were purchased new, which eased the pain of the loss some. It was still over $300 out of pocket in the aggregate.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China. With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters. Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed. And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments.. I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
