Amber Yellow has a base colour that is way too light for practical use. Except with bronze particles, which make it quite lovely. And the bronze one happens to be the one that feathers the least.

 

As for the behaviour, my opinions remain the same:

  • the particles are quite lovely but may be a bit excessive,
  • it's not very easy to clean them out of the pen thoroughly,
  • the particles may clog occasionally, and
  • the biggest problem: they are too wet, feather and bleed on almost all kinds of papers.

I agree. As much as I love the name and as pretty as this ink is in the bottle, it isn't really useful.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy.       I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
