I just bought an M800 Brown Tortoise and was thinking about M1000 in black. But I am hesitant as I had bought one for a friend which came with a bent nib.

Exactly. My M250 Brown Tortoise got Macassar and Yama-guri has it's own dedicated pen. Two browns is enough for me.

Really?  I thought Yama-guri would be PERFECT for the Brown Tortoise (I thought it would fabulous for drawing with) , but was way too wet an ink.  Apparently I didn't try Macassar in the pen.  Noodler's Walnut was very good, because the dry ink tamed the wet nib.

The Yama-guri is in a Sheaffer Cadet and its performance in that pen is so perfect - well-defined line with just the right amount of ink laid down (definitely not wet) - that I have no desire to even try it in another pen. Which left Macassar for the 250. Also, the slightly 'warmer' tone of Macassar more suits the golden brown of the Tortoise to my eye. I have to say, though, that the Walnut does look good. KWZ Honey would probably be a good match for the Tortoise, as well.

I'm trying to decide between the m400 brown tortoise and m605 white ghost. They're both the same price.

On the one hand, I prefer the m605 size.

On the other hand, I love the tortoise binde. However, I already have a tortoise 1990's m400  and a 1950's 400nn.

Alas, I don't have the budget for both. And who knows how long these special editions will continue to be available?

I feel your pain, I'm having one of those decisions/dilemmas right now too.  I guess yours depends on which one sells through first.  The pink one sold much better than some folks thought it would and it is gone now. Will the White one do that too?   I thought the M400 Tort would sell through by now but it seems to be available still.  And the "second thoughts" some have expressed for the M605 White kind of surprised me... wonder how many pre-orders were cancelled, compared to how many new ones appeared after the "real life" pics started appearing?  The "starkness" of the White is giving some folks pause.  How about you?

I just pulled the trigger on the White Ghost.

I looked at pictures in another thread that compared the Ghost to the Pink  m600, and the caps were a cold, stark white.

But I googled pictures of the m600 pink and the m600 white tortoise together and the white caps looked identical.

Then I took out my own m600 white tortoise, and the cap looked ivory in my home lighting.

So I concluded that it's all in the lighting, and the Ghost will look cold in cold light, ivory in warmer or natural light.

I'm planning about a M710 Toledo (black or yellow).
Alfredo

Well, thank to a great offer from Amazon.it instead of the Toledo I have taken a M805 stresemann (waiting that it arrives).

As a consequence the Toledo has been postponed  B)

New Pelikan M200 Brown-Marble Fountain Pen..............just reserved it...comes out late this month.

German vintage '50-70 semi-flex stubs and those in oblique give the real thing in On Demand line variation. Modern Oblique is a waste of money for a shadow of line variation. Being too lazy to Hunt for affordable vintage oblique pens, lets you 'hunt' for line variation instead of having it.

Well, this forum is quite risky. The risk to go check the (same, or similar) offer and find it not resistable.

M805 Stresemann EF next one for me too 🙂
My first in m8xx size.

Exactly!  I just sent the B nib that came with my Vibrant Blue M805 to Chartpak under the nib exchange program for an EF.
