Great Service From Dromgoole's

Some of you may have been aware of the Namiki Yukari Grapevine I purchased from Dromgoole's at the Dallas Pen Show that turned out to have a Pilot nib.

To make a long story short, Larry Dromgoole arranged for an exchange of the pen for one with a proper Namiki nib. The pen is to be a gift to a good friend of mine who is a winemaker, and I'm sure he will be pleased.

I appreciate Larry's help in taking care of this, and I highly recommend his store to everyone. He knows how to take care of his customers!

Glad he got it straightened out for you Jim! I hope your friend is very happy. Funny you mentioned Dromgoole's today. I received my Dromgoole's-USS Texas made by Noodler's TODAY. I am thrilled with that ink. They fixed me right up too. I already loved their Blue Steel, and now I have the USS Texas too. Both wonderful inks made exclusively for them by Noodler's. I haven't bought anything but ink from them, but after what you said, and my past two purchases, I'm open to buying more from them. They packed up my ink wonderfully, and wasted no time getting my precious ink to me with no problems at all.

Dromgoole's has always gone out of their way to make me feel special.

Larry is really good at matching folk with pens that fit them.

Never argue with drunks or crazy people.

Visiting Dromgoole's was a highlight of my trip to Houston earlier this year. Got a great pen, but it was a lot of fun just to look around and talk to the fine folx who work there.

Been visiting the shop for 7 years now. Larry and family go out of their way to make EVERONE who walks through the door welcome no matter how you are dressed or what you might want to purchase. You can dip almost any pen in the shop to try before buying, too.

I wanted to provide some follow-up on the grapevine Yukari Namiki pen. I gave it to my winemaker friend, and he was surprised and delighted. Thanks again to Larry for making it possible.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
