I'm not a big fan of green or brown inks, but I have to say that I really enjoy this ink. It is so complex and can be used in professional environments as well. Thinking about getting another bottle when I purchase Sailor Chushu

i'm new to this community, but have been reading/researching on pens, inks and papers for the last 6 months since I resume my interest in fountain pens. When I had the opportunity to be in Tokyo for work in late September, I return with 6 bottles of Rikyu Cha and 2 bottles of Chu Shu. I am a happy bunny.

Have a bottle but thinking of grabbing a couple more when I order some Doyou. Very interesting ink. Here it is dipped with an Osmiroid B3 nib.

Should I wait for it to come to US sellers or order from Japan?

It's already available in the US. Vanness & Andersons for example.

I saw it was available on eBay.com again yesterday.

free shipment from Japan for $13 or 10.25 pounds, which is reasonable as I paid around 6.50 pounds in Tokyo.

If you are in the UK and you have a GB£ PayPal account, they convert it to just over £11.

If I had the opportunity to buy ink in Tokyo, I would take a spare suitcase with me to bring it back home. :D

Looks like that good eBay deal is sold out for now. One of my colleagues at work is originally from Japan and is wokring from there during the Christmas holidays. She helped me navigate the Japanese Sailor website, and agreed to order me 3 bottles of Jentle (2 Rikya Cha and 1 Shigure, which doesn't appear to be available in the US market this go-around) for $22 including shipping to her house in Osaka. Hard to believe how cheap it can be at the source!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
