I was browsing around Goulet and stumbled upon a Nemosine Singularity in a transparent blue color that also looked like another possibility for her. My only concern with this one is whether it would stand up to being knocked around in a backpack or pencil case. Middle schoolers can be rough with their things.

 

Based on my very recent experience, I would not recommend these - especially if they might get knocked around. The cap has well-documented issues with cracking below the cap band. And all three of mine are looking like they have to be stored nib up in order to avoid dripping ink at random intervals (a problem I've never had with any prior pen - 11 of them). Gorgeous and comfortable as they are, I don't think they would be a good gift. Go with the Eco - I've got two and they've never caused me any problems.

So, what did you end up buying?

DA Golf with a few drops of blue. Might match FayeV's picture.

 

Vert Empire is a murky green, that some hoped would match MB Racing Green....close but no cigar.

MB Racing Green went from the worlds most hated ink....in many didn't understand shading....or murky.....and anything MB but the empty bottle was ever so hated........................to the most beloved ink of the last decade. :unsure:

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning.
