Seeking Advice On Dragon Catfish Green

A local retailer is giving a discount on Dragon Catfish Green (it's now the same price as a 3oz bottle), and I'm thinking of getting it but the lack of reviews has given me pause.

1. Is it good highlighter ink?

2. Is it readable, if needed to be used to write words (in a jiffy)?

3. How is the performance on copy paper? Does it feather a lot, does it bleed through a lot, etc.

4. Any other thoughts/comments from users would be appreciated! :)

I think you can go back and edit the tags. You will need to 'go Advanced' though. You may even be able to edit the title, but whether it will change it's spelling in the forum is unsure.

We changed that for you. You can't. (What you can do is edit the text part of the post within 24 h).

I've tried a sample of Dragon Catfish Green, and liked it. Yes, it's light enough that you can see the text underneath. Don't recall offhand whether there was feathering or bleedthrough, though.

Note, though, that I pulled out a cheap eyedropper brush pen filled with Dragon Catfish Pink that I hadn't used for a while (it got misplaced), and there is something that looks suspiciously like mold in the barrel.... Now I'm a bit worried about the contents of the bottle. Haven't checked the pen that has DCG (a Preppy highlighter pen) -- I'll give it a check later today and report back.

I've had several of my Noodler's highlight inks turn to gel over time. This has happened in both sample vials and in highlighting markers from preppy. I wouldn't use them in a pen that I care anything about.

I've not bought a full bottle. Maybe it has something to do with interaction with plastic vials?

I don't use any of mine in good pens. Besides the DCG which is in the Preppy highlighter pen, I have Dragon Catfish Pink, Lightning Blue, and Georgia Peach (all in Kuratake brush pens that came free, packed in with bottles of Kung Te Cheng (yes, I bought three bottles -- I knocked the first one off the bathroom vanity and it broke (glass and REALLY PERMANENT INK everywhere) and had to wait 6 weeks for Goulet Pens to get it back in stock; then decided -- just in case of emergencies -- I really should have a backup bottle....

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
