Pelikan Edelstein Tanzanite - Compact Review

Jan2016

Recommended Posts

Some time ago I posted some reviews but I was not content.

I try this new setup now and I am curious about your comments.

The scan is color corrected. Checking with my bare eyes it is also the same as the original. I have included a chromatogram, which will make comparison with other colors easier.

Sheen... difficult to catch. It is kind of reddish and you will not see it on absorbent papers.

Resolution of images is high, so click to zoom...

I want to thank Lgsoltek for showing me how to splash :D

Thanks for the review. I have a bottle of this and like it a lot, but it's nice to see other viewpoints and other peoples' impressions of the inks they review, even when it's something I already have.

@ Visvamitra:

Your ink reviews are great! I love to read them and I consider them one of the best in the forum. I agree with you on the close-ups. But I keep the review compact, no use in trying to be a copy of you :)

Thanks for the nice comments.

I choose to write it with a real "gusher" because I think it shows the properties of the inks best. I added the dip pen for contrast. The white balance for the picture of sheen is something I am not content with, I keep working on that....

I've not been in a BB mood, so it sits there untried.

For an ink BB; that I don't particularly care for....wonder why I have 8-9 of them. When I do use one, it's mostly ESSR.

In reference to P. T. Barnum; to advise for free is foolish, ........busybodies are ill liked by both factions.

I accidentally purchased this ink with the intention of getting aquamarine. So glad I did because I find it truly unique and like using it at work. It stands out as not a black ink, but not a bright blue ink either. My colleagues instantly recognize that it's my writing when they see it simply because of the subtle color. It's a sleeper ink that I've follen in love with. Currently inked in my Montblanc Alfred Hitchcock. It's perfect

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
