Senator President

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I have a question about a very lovely German piston-filler I was given by a friend decades ago. It'sa Senator President M stainless nib.

It is too a very nice writer, on the narrow side a bit, not without ink creep issues but still I love it.

The thing id a mate told me a while ago that Senator is a cheap brand making promotion and ad pens etc

Does anyone agree that their Bigger pens are just souvenirs, not true writing instruments, like?

Thanks

A very good pen company that has been sued by MB often, just for the hell of it because of the President, in it is 149 size and well made.

They have been making it for ages, and if it wasn't 149 size I might have gotten one....even new...and that is against my religion of Vintage pens....hum...if only it wasn't 149 size, I'm sure I could find an old used one on German Ebay.

In reference to P. T. Barnum; to advise for free is foolish, ........busybodies are ill liked by both factions.

I agree with the other respondents - excellent quality pens, even if it's a comparatively low-key company compared with Montblanc, Pelikan or Kaweco.

And more importantly, you've said you love it - even if it were 'just' producing 'souvenirs', that wouldn't really matter...

Is there still a chance to get Senator President somehow? I did a little bit research and this model has already been stopped in production. There are couple of pens being sold on eBay stating vintage one but as you know it's hard to trust a product on eBay, specially with this kind of deal.

EBay has them pop up every now and then, some with gold nibs, most with steel. Keep an eye out there. Try Google searching. I had one, sold it, and had a chance to snag another on a deal. If I decide to sell, I'll contact you, but I wouldn't hold my breath. LOL

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
