My New Fpn Friendly Wallet....

I've been looking for the perfect travel wallet for the better part of 2 years now, something that would allow me to carry everything I could need in a pinch and still fit into my back or breast pocket. Everything I saw was either, too big or too small and poorly designed.

I floated the idea of making a wallet to a first rate leather crafter, Jeanna McLaughlin of Mesa AZ.

Jeanna's primary business is Stone Creek Straps, she's at the top of her craft, making some of the finest watch straps available. She is also a pleasure to work with, answering questions, offering suggestions and making sure her customers are happy with their purchases. I own several of her straps and she is known to all WIS's (Watch Idiot Savants).

A few months ago I came up with my own design, did a mock-up in card stock and sent it off to Jeanna who tweaked the final design and put it together. I chose vegetable tanned natural leather, I like the way it ages. It's completely hand stitched and will be the last wallet I ever need.

Closed it measures 4.25" x 5.25 x 3/4"...

That's a Pelikan 150 and a Rhodia No.12 Dot Pad.

Closed...Jeanna designed it so everything folds over neatly, fits in your back pocket.

I was so pleased with this I asked Jeanna to keep the patterns, if anyone is interested in getting one made you should contact her directly. The base price in vegetable tanned leather was is $350, completely cut and stitched by hand. As I said Jeanna is a pleasure to work with, other leathers are available.

Usual disclaimer, I have no financial arrangement or interest in this, just thought some of you may be interested.

Very nice but wondering... where exactly are you looking in the third picture? From the top down? Or under one of the side panels? Thanks for the clarification.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
