For 51 Plum Hunters

I would say so. Now the poor seller's going to wonder why he has so many people watching!

Or maybe not. He did after all say it was Plum, and showed a writing sample.

But since I've got one (plus, feeling kind poor at the moment), I'll let other people bid on this one. Although I'd be curious to see what it eventually goes for, so maybe I'll watch the listing too....

Not really wondering, This was part of a group I picked up from a local source. Not really my cup of tea, so off to a new owner.

The pen went for only $165.50. Cheap! Isn't it?

Don't know about the bidder, but i was extremely happy as the seller. Not exactly the top of the market, but not bad given what I had in it.

Looked at that one- chromed filler sheath was right but looked burgundy for sure on my monitor...turned out to be plum?

Just to confirm, although I'm almost certain, is this a Plum?

(the white stuff/dots must be some lint or something with the camera).

Thank you Mitto.

It is a Demi in very good condition, but with name engraved.

I had no idea it was Plum when I bid, since it looked black. In fact, since I already had several black ones, I bid on the lot because of some Sheaffers (which turned out marvelous). But, of course, I was thrilled to see this one. Like many of the other colors, this is so hard to photograph (I got my Forest Green in a similar way).

Unfortunately, I focus mainly on the regular size (the Demi is too small for me). So, this one will have to find a new home and I'll have to continue my quest for a Plum for my collection.

You are welcome Lam. I too collect mainly the regular size. And my plums, forest greens and midnight blues came to me without me knowing, prior to their arrival, about their colors (except obviously for the cocoas).

Another possible plum suspect.

Sold for $153.50. Cheap if plum. Expensive if otherwise. But I suspect it is plum.

Did you buy the pen? If so let us know what does it turn out to be. But it does look plum.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
