Wow. Wish I were there. I'd definitely buy the three inks and at least one Neponset or Ahab... but... drat. What cool inks and the stories behind them.

Keep growing, Commonwealth Show!

Nathan sure has been busy producing a lot of LE inks lately, hasn't he?

The labels and history he narrates on these interest me more than the inks themselves, but I hope everyone who wants them gets them!

He says in the video that these are made from ingredients that he can't get any longer, so that's one reason they're LE inks.

I'm not so interested in the blue but the others are intriguing. Normally I'm not a pink person but I can't help feel an attraction to an ink replicating the original voting ink for women, at least in one place in Massachusetts.

So wish I was at the show to pick up a bottle or three of Proctor's Ledge. I've always been fascinated by the Salem Witch Trials, and recently found out my adopted grandmother is a direct descendent of Edward and Sarah Bishop. On top of all that it's also a really nice ink. I wonder if any of the bottles will find their way to ebay?

Well, I'm back from the show. When I explained to my husband what "bulletproof" means, and that it's made from something so exotic that Noodler's can't even source more, he thanked me for not picking up a glass bottle of bulletproof blue to leave around the house. Here are some swabs. Sorry, I don't have a blacklight :)

That pink one looks interesting. Wish I could have gone to the show this year, but family obligations kept me from going up to MA this year. Sigh....

I should've stuck around a bit longer to find out more about them... but to be honest, none of those inks spoke to me, really... The stories behind them are fascinating, though.

Fairly nice backstories, but all the samples I've seen of the inks leave me meh. And, honestly, I don't think I've fired up a black light since the 1960's...

Jon, say it isn't so!

I'm excited about these inks. Vis, I'll send you a sample of each. I love your reviews.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Mega-sweet of you, but... no. I have more than enough inks in these color spectra to last me more than my lifetime. Nathan's politics in this particular batch didn't send me over the edge as they sometimes do (one would think we'd be more in tune, sharing a Quaker background), but in the end, it's the ink on paper, and while I appreciate the thought, best sent to those who are enamored or think they might be!

On a related note: if you didn't happen to get a bottle/sample of the Noodlers exclusive ink (for Straits Pens of Singapore) that was shown at the SF Pen Show ("Pacific Dawn at the Golden Gate"), drop me a PM, and I'll send you a sample. I purchased for a friend and ended up with a little extra.

Thanks so much! Can't wait for my shift to end so I can go home and buy some Proctor's Ledge.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
