Brits, Where Do You Buy Your Pilot Blue?

Flounder

I really like Pilot's blue ink cartridges, the stuff they put in the IC-50 cartridges. I'm a bit confused about the regional variations of the bottled ink though. Is there a UK source for non - Iroshizuku standard Pilot blue ink?

Amazon (USA) has a good price from a seller in Japan, you might try Amazon UK.

I think the ink in the Pilot cartridges is the standard Pilot Namiki Blue. I bought mine from The Writing Desk. You can find it slightly cheaper if you shop around, but they are great people & I like to support them.

They also offer 2.5ml samples of the ink for £1, so you can 'try before you buy' to make sure it's the one you want :-)

I think Flounder may be looking for the bottled ink? I may have misunderstood though.....

Or perhaps I did! :)

I don't think you can buy bottled Pilot ink in the shop I linked too - they only sell Pilot Capless fps and there is no link on the website to a bottled ink of the pilot brand.

Cult Pens also carry Pilot/Namiki Blue in bottles.

I recall last time I checked (a few months ago) CultPens were quite expensive for Pikot/Namiki ink.

Thanks for the advice everyone - it is a bottle I'm looking for, I like this ink for its glidiness and feathering resistance, and would like to start using it in my non-cartridge pens (esp. as the bottles look to have a handy filling insert).

I wasn't aware of that Rakuten shop, many thanks Freddy! Their shipping estimator seems to be on the blink right now, but I'll keep my eye on it!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
