Looks like we have some pretty accomplished photographers on the site.  I exclude myself from that company, but how about a thread that is more about the photo than the pen?  Ideally, posts would be of reasonably high quality and show the application of some interesting photographic technique, artistic posing (of pens), or just punning with pens.  Here's one of the latter.

No one has some pics that are arty and/or funny?  Here's another attempt.  The Conid correction, acknowledging that Conid have swung pen technology by a bit.

No one else seems to be picking up on this.  Too bad.

The Mikado is resting on a magneto switch from an old aircraft.  When the brave pilot yells "contact!" in old movies, he has turned the mags on.

Hence the pun.  Devices for making contact.

Continuing with puns.  Cheap quills.

What is interesting is that the total value of pens in this photo is less than $20.  Yet, at least four of them write very well indeed.

C.

Christof, thank you for adding to this lonely thread.

Art.  Hmmmm.  A well done documentary photo illustrates a pen (or related subject) in a competent way.  In that sense, art is another word for skillful execution.  Patents, for example, require that both art and novelty be present.  Many of the threads on this site contain photos that are artful.

I appreciate documentary shots, but I also like to make my pens work for a living.  In this thread, I ask that they tell little stories as they pose.  Jokes, puns, that sort of thing.  Why not try it?  You certainly have the art.

Cunim, my friend, I have only just discovered your charming pictures. The thread may be lonely, but please don't stop posting.

I confess, I don't get the joke/point of the copper wire. Please explicate your art to a philistine?

Ergative, you caught me.  There is no point to the copper wire.  I just use it to hold cheap pens in a jumble, and to add a general feeling of messiness.  The point of this photo is the play on words "cheap quills" as opposed to the usual "cheap thrills".

Pakman, no reason to just wish.  You can do it, easily.  Most of photography is lighting.  The thread "Offering photography advice" by Usernameistaken has some good pointers that involve simple and low cost lighting manipulation.  Give those techniques a try.

Are all of those "cheap quills" Jinhaos? I think I recognize all of those, save the orange - what is that one?

Interesting photos you've been sharing here. :)

Great thread!

My photos of objects are dismal.. but I appreciate creative set-ups.

Christof's photos are always excellent.  Just for fun it would be interesting to see the pen graphic boxes suspended over the pen holder graphic's.

Yes, jinhaos. I like that funky white one. Orange pen is a Friendship eyedropper that came free with an Indian pen. Writes OK, but dries its contents pretty quickly.

Ah, thanks! :) I like the white also, I've been debating if I should get a second X750 in white, nice opposition to my Shimmering Sands one, lol.

This is also a "documenting" shot but may be closer to the topic?

My Title would be: Pelikan 660 travelling inkwell and Pelikan 400 from 1950.

As already said: Just documenting...sorry. A hovering pen is more than enough for a conservative photographer like me...A fancy title would be too much  :)

Charming photos, cunim, I'm really enjoying this thread!

Christof, for your photo I propose a riff on the thread title: "Pelikan gets stuck making a point"
