I had a look in my To-Be-Repaired drawer this morning: it was dispiriting.

Marrying a nib-tinkerer may be an extreme solution, but my last husband was a computer nerd. How different could it be?

First: computer nerds are awesome! (Not biased by any stretch of the imagination)

Second: Learning how to fix your own nibs might just be a better solution than marrying a nibmeister :P

It's curious how you have accumulated so many pens that need fixing though.

Some of us like "project pens."   ;)

And we go nuts at a box of misc. $5 pens.

He was a database administrator - a great and powerful wizard.

I suppose one is seduced by the possibilities of a cheap pen, but they do accumulate.

And the extremely expensive ones.

You know what they say about being the spouse of someone with a specific skill set like that don't you?

Their stuff is the last to get done.

My Wife Janet's work gets always done first, she being a professional lettering artist and master calligrapher, so I don't have that problem at all :-)

Not sure what the other "lever" means.

I do all the cooking, and cleaning here at home.

Would be happy to have your for dinner; do you like salmon with roasted potatoes covered in rosemary with Lawry's seasoning on the BBQ? Tonight's dinner :-)

The lever was dinner.

But seeing that you cook, I guess that lever doesn't exist.

Next time I'm in LA, I may take you up on it.

I so understand the meaning of this thread.  I bought some reasonably priced and higher priced pens that turned out to be stinkers.

Show me a nib tinkerer that can fix a few old piston fillers and I will cook them dinner too.  I can do a really mean cast iron frying pan steak and my lasagna ins not bad either.... The only drawback is you have to come to New York State and like the wines from Tuscany.

I'm not calming to be a a kitchen wizard, but I'm good at what I like.

Josh Lax is a great nibmeister...new on the business side of it but he does great work.  Unfortunately, he is married with a young son.  But he lives in Brooklyn, only two or three counties away from you!

Perhaps this site can start a matchmaking service for pen fanciers and nib tinkerers.

And the saying goes: "The shoemaker's children go barefoot."

And I just bought one of your pens, Greg. It's probably prevented me from buying half a dozen old crocks on eBay.

Thank you for your business! Yes, a lot of old crocks on Flea-Bay. A week does not go by when I get some sort of email from someone saying they got stung by a seller on Flea-Bay, or I am fixing up a nib that was "repaired" by someone too.

I've gotten lucky a few times, I must confess, but one should always figure in the cost of restoration.

Sid,I love my computer nerd (ex) husband, but I gave up and told my kid I'd pay for college if she would become a nib meister. (Don't worry Greg, she still loves that steam punk watch).

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

An FP-lovers singles board is great idea! Would be much easier than trying to convert every prospect I meet
