Sorry. No numerical ratings. Size, fit and finish, etc. are perfect.

The nib is better than okay, but it can't match a gold nib tuned face-to-face by Mr. Masuyama. Then again, that's not what I paid for, and, by the way, I can swap in a Conway Stewart italic nib that Michael tweaked to my peculiar taste any time I want to.

Besides the gorgeous appearance of this pen, its most remarkable attribute is that it is amazingly comfortable to write with for me. I love it!

Thanks for sharing. I thought about this pen when it was listed. I am glad it went to a good home.

I think Shawn has offered another of these even more recently. He's doing some very cool stuff. It just gets cooler.

Maybe it's just me, but the interplay of the ebonite ripples and the shaping of the bamboo-style barrel seems just about perfect on this pen. Thanks for the photos!

Thanks for your comment, Ron. I think that interplay was one of the things that grabbed me. And I forgot to screw on the cap so the ripples on the cap and barrel line up. My error, not Shawn's.

You would have to ask Shawn, but Eboya also makes "bamboo" pens from ebonite, and there is a long tradition in Japan of fountain pens made from bamboo or shaped to resemble bamboo.

Woot!  :)  Thanks for the awesome review and for the nice comments everybody!

Inspiration comes from several different sources.  I've been wanting to do one of these for a few years but wanted to hold back b/c it seemed like it was Ken Kaver's thing at the time.  :)  He does beautiful bamboo pens, too.  In fact I have his first bamboo pen.  :)

And I only broke the cap once (dropped it out of my shirt pocket)!  X)

But today there are so many options for bamboo material and bamboo shaped pens I thought I'd throw my hat in the ring and see how mine would look.  :)  And they're a lot of fun to make, too.
