How Long Has Your Twsbi Been In Use?

I just won't won't buy there pens any more.

I've had an Eco for about four months. Love the pen, looks great, writes great, feels great. No problem so far. But, I don't see this as a "pass on to the next generation" type of pen. With the cracking issues, I've found it difficult to convince myself to buy another Eco or mini. Hoping to see this "cracking" issue resolved for good, some time soon. But, at this time, I'll enjoy my Eco for as long as I can.

Hey etaylor, I'm glad your Eco is holding up, well. You neednt be concerned with future faulty plastics being used in their pens. Although twsbis earlier models were trouble prone. I'm sure they've addressed all the cracking issues. Most people who complained got great customer service. I'm just in the minority of people who didn't get that great CS.

Take for instance, the vac mini. If you see one you like, buy it. It's not gonna crack. In the future, if I see good reports on their pens I'll start buying them again. But for now, I'll look elsewhere

Some models since the very start of the TWSBI company. Including a 530 with a replaced cap that is my dedicated BSB pen ;)

Two Vac 700's (Amber, Bock EF, Jowo 1.1 & EF; Smoke, F) in May of 2013. A Mini Classic, EF, in August 2013 (stolen, replaced with one just like it May 2014). Another Vac 700, clear, B, last May.

All used regularly, no issues other than the second Mini developed a crack in the feed threads at the section. Twsbi replaced the part in a couple of days.

Everything working fine there.

I have 3 vac700's and 2 580 that are inked and been in use since they were offered for sale. Do not use any of my other pens and have been giving them away to family.

Actually, the Vac mini has cracking issues as well.

My 540 has been in constant use since August 2011, so I must really like it. I have a fine and a broad nib, but I usually use the broad.

Some of the parts that developed cracks in 2012 were quickly replaced. The 540 cap was replaced by a 580 cap in 2015. I have had immediate responses from their customer service department.

I have been using the pen for the J. Herbin Anniversary inks. I can see the gold flecks in the clear barrel and I know that I can totally disassemble the pen for cleaning.

If I planned to buy a fountain pen as a gift to someone new to fountain pens, I would probably buy a TWSBI.

I have had 580 diamond almost year for now. It's my most used fountain pen and I have always used Sailor Kiwa-Guro ink with no issues. Love the ef nib.

I also have twsbi eco lime green, but I hate it. I bought this when this color launched, because I didn't know that is has different nib than my 580. The nib should be extra-fine, but it writes like B and very scratchy. I tried to give it little polishing, but no success. Closer inspection revealed that it has indeed huge ball of tipping material and its irregularly shaped. Now I'm hunting new nib for it, because there is no way that I could grind this to ef.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
