Parker 51 Flow Starts Nice Gets A Bit Dryer

I have a new to me parker 51. When I leave the pen laying horizontally and then start writing it's nice and juicy (but not overly) to my taste. Then it lightens back up to how it writes after being held vertical in my pocket.

 

Do you think the collector is not fully clean or is this normal?

 

Rolling the nib is a factor but there's still a big difference when left flat.

 

Any other thoughts?

Check for the hood tip and nib alignment. The nib shouldnt be too tight against the hood tip.

 

And yes, it may be that the collector and feed are not as clean as should be.

I'm also facing a similar issue with my Parker Vector, my nib is too tight against the hood tip. How should I fix it? Should I use a blade to just spread them apart a bit?

The Vector has no hood. It has an open nib. What exatly is the problem with your Vector nib?

I actually can close the book on my problem. It seems that I just needed to let a pen that hadn't been filled in a while work its way through. Also, sticking with nicely flowing waterman ink.
