Howdy !! :lol: I've been collecting fountain pens for the last 30+ years and using them since I got my first Scheaffer lever filler from my grandfather back in the late '50s. I have over 300 pens focused mainly on Parker 51'sand most of the Post War European makers especially the main German firms products. I haven't been very actively aquiring pens the last decade as both new and vintage prices have gotten ridiculous for whats offered!! But I still use a fountain pen daily for all my writing needs. My screen name comes from how a pompous clerk over in the Dallas Mont Blanc store pronounced the firms name! :D I especially like Pelikans pens up to the late '80s having several Postwar versions in my collection and all my Mont Blancs are pre 1969 as after then they stopped making writing instruments and began making pocket jewelry ! JMHO :rolleyes: Hope to meet some interesting collectors and learning more from the folks here!!

Welcome from way down south in Victoria. Since you are in the Dallas area I guess you will attend the Dallas Pen Show coming up at the end of the month.

Stop by the Dromgoole table and say hello to the folks there. I go to Houston to visit my daughter and always make it a point to stop by and visit with the brothers and Christine, Larry's wife. Thtat's why I have over 50 pens!

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off.
