Waterman Crarene France Vs Waterman Crarene India(Luxor)

Hi

I am new to this forum and this is my first post.

I have bought an Waterman Crarene assembled by Luxor.(India). The order is yet to be delivered. I would like to know is Waterman made by Luxor is same as the Waterman France.

I also like to know whether Waterman Crarene leaks?

What about the flexibility of the nib, can it be useful for copperplate calligraphy?

Hello and welcome.

Assuming you mean Carene.

On the Luxor web I can see pictures of various Waterman pens and they all look like Waterman France models.

Typically, http://www.luxor.in/waterman-carene-blk-sea--gt-fp-pen(medium-nib)_9000013912.html

I suspect the parts are shipped from France as 4 pieces, section, barrel, cap and box. Then they are assembled thus,

Screw section into barrel.

Put cap onto section

Place pen in box

I very much doubt any part is made in India.

I do not know why you think they leak. Some users have problems when holding near the nibs ears so try, if possible, to grip further up.

In real terms, the Carene nib does not flex...it is a nail. Some users press VERY hard to attain a little movement but this is something I would not suggest you do.

Thank you very much!!! :) :) :) This is very helpful.

Sorry for the typo :(

I love my Carene - it was my first fountain pen. The nib is very stiff, but I don't mind. I expanded my collection to include a variety of pens, nibs, and inks.

Tom

Waterman Ideal - blue ink; Esterbrook 2048 - brown ink; Waterman Carene - black ink

You could talk with the supplier and explain the situation. If they will not assist then use the FREE nib exchange system. The complete pen must be returned to Waterman France for this. You could request another medium in the hope it IS medium (maybe add a comment with the pen) or opt for a Fine point.

The problem is, in India the pen is imported and assembled by Luxor Writing Instrument PVT LTD. I have already contacted with both Luxor and Waterman for it. I yet to recieve reply.

Then I have decided to return the pen to the seller( brought from amazon India) and order a fine nib. I have to pay INR 1110 extra for it :( :( .

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
