Good Blue Ink?

My favorite for any kind of cheap paper is Registrar's ink. It's not terribly expensive (Chesterfield makes a really cheap version!) and even though it's iron-gall, it is well behaved and doesn't require much maintenance (at least in my pen). I haven't met a paper that it didn't like, and it's permanent. It's blue-black though (think denim) not blue-blue.

Hi,

To put the Blue back in an I-G Registrars Ink, kindly refer to this adventure https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/223337-essri-mixes/?p=2219295

Wheee!

Hi,

The stacked 'DH' indicates the unit of currency - the Dirham. In this instance the United Arab Emirates dirham, (AED), which is pegged at 3.68 AED / USA dollar (USD).

Prowling Strolling the side streets on the look-out for small stationery shops without barcode readers has allowed me to maintain my cache of the discontinued Parker Quink BlBk c/w Solv-X, which slakes the thirst of my office daily writer.

Who knows - perhaps a trove of Parker Penman Sapphire is waiting to be found!

Bye,

Thanks for the info.

Then the Pelikan b/b was a steal. Hmmm,....I should have asked my God-daughter to pick me up some ink when she did a stint with Cavalia in the UAE.

Diamine has so many shades of blue, and the cost performance is good. Diamine Registrar's ink has worked on all the papers I have, even the cheapest ones.

If there is a Chinatown in your area, maybe you could check the stationery stores there. You might be able to find a bottle of Hero ink for like $3.- per bottle, and they perform pretty well, even though they are more of wimpy blue....

There is good old Pilot Blue. It actually is trickier than some people thought with nice shading and a great sheen in many lights on many papers. Can't lose.Good water resistance and a nice color.

 It's for Yew!bastardchildlil.jpg

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
