Unusual / Rare Ink Brands That You Love!

Hello All,

Hope you're having a great weekend. We're in the process of launching a fully revamped version of our website and as part of the ecommerce offering we're looking for one or more brilliant ink brands that you don't find everywhere else.

Don't get me wrong, we love the big names but we're looking for inks you've encountered that are simply amazing but maybe from smaller / boutique manufacturers?

We'd love to hear from you and I'm sure you'll have some great suggestions.

Thanks,

Roy

I'd say KWZI but they seem to be becoming more and more widely known.

I'm torn. On one hand I'm glad for them, for their popularity, they really deserve it. On the other hand the selfishness in me kinda makes me feel like a child treasuring his own toy, not wanting others to take it away. I would hate like to see them become more and more difficult to get due to a high demand, like those Sailor inks...

Silly me LOL.

Hi,

Thanks so much for all your brilliant replies - I've contacted Robert and KWZI and hope to hear back.

This is why FPN is such a legendary place. If we manage to stock either or both, then I'll make sure that you're really well looked after.

Kind regards,

Roy

I would second both KWZI and Callifolio.

As an overseas buyer, about as overseas as you can get, I've been unable to obtain either of these at reasonable cost (or at all) and I would really like to given their reviews.

I'm in China and I've ordered directly from KWZI. Konrad offers a rather reasonable shipping cost. You can go to their site and send him an email.

If you could source any of the special Sailor inks (eg. Bung Box, Nagasawa, Joyful-2 etc), I'm sure you'd find a lot of takers.

That said, I've been eyeing Oster inks for a while, and as I'm UK based, should you bring them in, I'll sure give them a try...

Too many pens; too little writing.

I'd discussed with Rob that he find a UK stockist & had made some suggestions. I'm pleased I saw your post here & could signpost his ink. To be honest I thought he might have found another seller, but if you're going to stock his inks then that's really good news indeed . I have a lot of his colours & I'm a big fan of most of them. I'm sure they will sell well.

KWZI, Kyo-Iro and Kyonooto, L'Artisan Pastellier, Octopus, Standardgraph, Krishna (ink made in India) are worth checking and considering.

Okay, I'll expand my collection just because you said so.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
