Oh, that's true!

Okay, so volunteering will be based on 10 colors. You do not need to volunteer for all colors, but for any color that volunteer to test, you will agree to write a review for all four inks of that color.

So, let's say you agree to you test the (well named) Amber Yellow. Then you agree to test and write about Amber Yellow - Gold, Amber Yellow - Bronze, Amber Yellow - Copper and Amber Yellow - Silver. (The one exception being the Green Silver).

There will be a small fee to pay for the vials and shipping. I don't know how much at will be. In the next few days, I will set up a google form and you can enter your information and I will post the ten ink colors (there is more than one blue).

Dr. J clearly wants / needs to know which metals work, and which work best with each ink. I'll try and have a list of questions ready in a form so you can fill it out easily.

This will be much fun!

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Oh, one post is fine. These will be in the Th-INKing Outside the bottle forum: https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/forum/141-th-inking-outside-the-bottle/ (also known as this forum). I'd also like to do some CRVs with these in that we could mail a few of the sheets to others who are evaluating the same ink so that we can see how it looks on the same paper with different pens and writers.

Okay, cool. Thanks. :) I have other reviewing commitments (for a manga site) so didn't want to overextend myself. But I can manage a couple inky posts, I think. :)

I don't want make it too miserable. I was thinking about breaking it into two inks a week. That way it isn't as overwhelming. That's still 8 inks possible during a week.

I'd be interested, but I have too much on my plate at the moment. :(

I can test one color in the four variations for certain, maybe two. Do be aware that I personally I'm not a fan of glitter inks, but I can review based on how they look, how they handle. If the inks are safe for a Pelikan, I have one with a wet B nib that might be good for testing purposes.

Notice that the metallic sparkles aren't staying in solution.

Now, I did notice that some of the metallic flakes remain on the bottle, especially copper.

So here's the next step. Sinistral1 is driving to Las Vegas to pick these up. Then she's driving back home. While along the way, she's going to visit lots of us. You can contact here about participating in the 2016 SWINKY SWAP. The Super pInks are sharing inks and samples so you may be able to join us.

Those folks who asked for samples at the beginning of this thread and did not agree to test the four metals in each single color will not be on the following list. The list is of those who will get samples of one color x 4 metals agree to do a written review of each color/metal (4 reviews). You can put all four reviews on a single page or do a page for each review, which ever you prefer.

Please PM me with your name and mailing address.

I will be getting the bottles from Amberlea in the next couple of weeks and getting the samples sent out within a week or so after that. I will post here later what the cost will be for vials and shipping and you will all need to make a payment to me through PayPal at Sinistral1@Hotmail.com.

Does anyone have any questions?

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
