The sales have been "up and running", on eBay, for several months now. A new lot each week, starting on ever Wednesday,

Are US buyers allowed to participate now? After he stopped shipping to the USA around the third week I stopped paying attention.

I was unaware of this new pen, have checked it out. I was wrong. Not technically Omas but certainly close enough in spirit. My apologies to Manu.

But wait, there's more. The Armando Simoni Club Arleqquino pen was described in this thread:

A Most Rare Omas Find

dated, as you see, December 2015, long before Manu bought the Omas inventory. So these pens cannot "fulfill his promise." My original opinion returns. deception.

I think you may be confusing different pens, which is easy to do with Omas.

Here is a more recent post showing three different Arlecchinos: the modern Omas "original hommage" from 2002, the Paragon made by Omas, and the recent post Omas "Armando Simoni " brand made by Manu (Emmanuel Caltagirone) of m2bPens.

Manu purchased the old Omas inventory and has been selling it on Ebay, and is also the source for newly made Armando Simoni pens made from old Omas rod stock. He was also involved with Syd Saperstein on the revived Wahl Eversharp pens. Manu is a gentleman and in my experience has done exactly what he promises. I have dealt with him several times and will do so again.

many thanks whichwatch, though my ankles hurt from having to turn so sharply and so often and my head hurts from so many beautiful Omas and Omas-inspired fountain pens. And once again my respects to manu.

If you know, is the manufacture continuing at the same location? how much of the expert old staff has he been able to retain and by whom are the nibs crafted? My wife and I expect to be in Italy next month for the Mille Miglia and if possible, would love to visit.

If you are going to comment, and feel like you are adding to the information of a thread, please at least take the time to format your replies carefully and take a look at them before posting. The reply directly above this one contains everything within one quote, a mix of different people typing, and this kind of thing makes it difficult to follow the conversation.

I agree with whichwatch. Manu provides excellent customer service and a wonderful product. The fountain pen community is lucky to have him.

I've recently seen some unusual bidding behaviour on the auctions with one bidder constant bidding on most of the auctions but not winning many. Its driven me away from looking at them recently.

Oh yes, the usual shill bidding. This is why I keep well away from pen auctions - much better to buy at fixed price.

I always buy at a fixed price in auctions---I fix the price. What I do with eBay auctions is decide how much I am willing to pay for an item and still consider it a good deal, and I then proceed to set that amount with automatic bidding. That way, I am not really affected by "shill bidding", nor do I get into excitable last-minute bidding. To my mind, satisfaction in auctions is to be found in getting an item at a price one is happy with, not in getting worked up over the possibility that one might have got it at a lower price.

I highly doubt that the is shill bidding in Manu's auctions. Regardless, there is no shortage of buyers, and the 100% feedback indicates that they are quite happy. In one case, I missed out on a pen I wanted and contacted Manu's organization to see if they had another available. They had one and offered to me at a higher price than what it went for on auction but which I still felt was a good deal. I snapped it up and have been very happy with it.

Indeed.

I agree. He sells a lot of product and been very obliging with questions. As for the auctions, I'm from Australia which is not great for any last minute bidding. They finish at about 3am in that morning local time.

I have spent thousands of dollars on Manu's pens, but he won't answer a simple question via the FPN, his website or ebay, despite the many attempts. The silence is deafening.

This is not the way to treat existing, and potential repeat, customers to a nascent brand desperately in need of cash and good will.

Too many pens; too little writing.

Since, by your own account, you have spent thousands of dollars, the "deafening silence" does not appear to be sending away customers.

Still .... I have had no problem getting responses to questions on Ebay. Your bad luck or something else?

Nice insinuation. I can only assume your user name is ironic.

And while I'm sure that in all probability it did occur to you that the 'deafening silence' descended after said purchases, you simply could not overcome the childish urge to lob boulders at those betters passing from your vantage under a bridge.

I will not feed the faceless, risible internet troll. Good day.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
