Same here. The X750 and the 3035 arrived already. Was just curious - both write.

Bonus: the 3035 can also be used as a dart.

It's my nosebag of little treats for bad days. I'm going to save them when they arrive then get one out to clean and play with when I feel the need for a pick-me-up...

Mine slipped once, when I ordered two bottles of R&K Verdura by mistake. I'm more than happy with that, in it's the best green-green shading ink I have.

I had been testing samples of Gumnd fountain pen friendly paper------they also make art papers that are not for fountain pens. I had made an assumption that the heavier the paper the better, so had samples from 90-100-110-120-150-170, of various kinds also, white, cream/ivory and beige , and that some cost $50, for ea 35 or 50 sheets was interested in which was best.

Sadly, my assumption was wrong, there were certain ink and nibs that were best on 90 or 100, and not quite so good on the 150-170, or the middle weights.

On a couple of papers, I tested some 12-13 of my @ 16 greenish inks.

In green-green inks, R&K Vedura finished a nose in front of MB Irish green and a neck in front of Pelikan 4001 Brilliant green. For the price 4001 Brilliant green was 'Best Buy'. A good ink to have anyway.

Edelstein Aventurine turned out to feather a bit, :( which was a disappointment. Topaz is very good though.

In reference to P. T. Barnum; to advise for free is foolish, ........busybodies are ill liked by both factions.

You're definitely committed to your green inks then! :)

So far I've only got Diamine Umber, which is much darker than I was expecting. I don't really love green as an everyday writing colour though so that's probably for the best. My nicest pens are inked up with Diamine Sargasso Sea at the moment :)

I'm surprised by the X450 and the 159 which a conscious act of curiosity brought into my life. Mostly in a good way, although the point of the X450 needed a little adjustment, and its converter had a bad seal. You could spend that amount of money and get worse results... in a fast food restaurant.

Ravensmarch Pens & Books
It's mainly pens, just now....

Oh, good heavens. He's got a blog now, too.

Twiglezone......I'd been headed purple, with no intention to ever buy 'green', when I got an old bottle of 4001 Green on sale....

The next year or so I bought 14 or so green inks from R&K Altgoldgruen, Herbin Vert Empire.....had I only known 'murky' green could be so good....sigh cubed, I could have bought MB Racing Green....but I was too noobie and not into green, much less murky and didn't know enough about shading.

Do not buy Lamy green, nor Diamine Meadow Green...which is as bad if not worse than Lamy Green.

DA Golf, is a 'stand alone' green, shades well, but is a slightly faded green. It will lose comparison tests. Worth one bottle though.

DA Moss is a light little spring moss to my surprise (I'd rate it more a light green-green than the mossy I expected)....some how it kept being tested in narrow nibs and I think it would look very good in a M or a B. Unfortunately I got away from testing each ink on 5-6 pens to go with a basic 4-6 paper test. All I'd be doing is cleaning pens.

In I only have some 6-8 purple or violet inks I'm still far away from having the basics in that color.

I don't like blue blacks....don't know why I have 7-8 of them....might still need one or two...not counting my 4001 BB is empty. ESSR is a great BB, look it up in the ink reviews....one of the longest threads I think in FPN history some 40 pages.

I convinced my self not to buy the two new MB blues..... the 8 or so I have seem to do the trick. ;)

I have 50-60 inks and don't even have the 100 basic Euro inks  ....much less the 200 Diamine, 400 Noodlers, 100 Japanese inks....then there are the many company's that popped up like mushrooms in the last three-four years.

There is a great post somewhere here on the 40-60 murky green inks, the guy did a great job. Murky can be beautiful.....how odd. :D

You need to keep an eye on that finger as that finger could get you a whole lot of trouble. Finger says, "hmmm pens, more pens, ... Push button to buy ... Push button to pay ... ahh more pens."

My fingers didn't slipped, it have tremors. Tremors only when the mouse is hovering over the buy it now button. Just wired that way, somehow.

How do you find the balance of the 450? I looked at it but decided against after reading a FPN review that claimed it was topheavy when posted.

I recently bought an X450 in blue because my eight year old son loves that colour.

I had previously not been drawn to the X450 because I was not keen on the section.

However, Matt Armstrong of the Pen Habit is a fan of this pen, so I gave it a try.

I find this pen to be beautifully balanced.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
