Will I be able to resist the temptation of Conid and Yard of Led? And vintage pens and ink samples? ....

I know! There are just so many wants...

Fountain pen novice. I am aquiring pens at a frightening pace, I am afraid it might be an addiction... I see I am not alone here on FPN! Latest acquisitions - Platinum 3776 Kumpoo with Diamine Eau de Nil, Opus 88 Koloro inked with Diamine November Rain, Franklin-Christoph Model Pocket 66 prototype inked with Franklin-Christoph Honeycomb.

Only if you take no money and no bank cards.

Sorry to hear The Writing Desk can't be there this year - wishing you a speedy recovery.

I chose my user name years ago - I have no links to BBS pens (other than owning one!)

Have fun and say hi to all the good folks at Conid on my behalf!

Just this moment booked my train tickets from Manchester. Whilst I will only be attending for a couple of hours (need to be back in Manchester for 5pm), I very much look forward to bumping into anyone from the FPN. ;)

Pavoni.

Too many pens; too little writing.

No doubt you'll be loitering around the Conid desk like last year.

See you there !

Tas.

That's what I wanted to do, but my wife had other plans.......

If anybody needs a table plan of the show please message me with your email address and I'll send you one prior to the show

Although Martin & Anna won't be with us this year (have you been building again Martin?), we do have Pure Pens who are setting up an ink testing table alongside there pens and stationary tables, we also have Bureau Direct also for the first time and the will be launching Konrad's KWZ ink. We also have a new (for us) Italian penmaker, Santini Italia, Carola & Ulrich Kruner from Germany and if you want something high end check out Jack Row's creations.

Finally if anybody needs to leave a bag under my tables at their own risk you are welcome to do so.

Note to 'Newbies' Rules of Engagement:

1. Take your time, spend as much time as you can at the show - after all you've paid for it.

2. Decide how much you want to spend - you will never, ever have enough.

3. LEAVE ALL CREDIT/ DEBIT CARDS AT HOME!!

4. Dealers enjoy chatting to visitors so don't be afraid to say hi and ask questions

5. You may well find yourself going into a pen/ink/stationary daze, if so sit down quietly somewhere and regroup for the next onslaught!

Hope to see you there on Sunday and don't forget to pick up the 2017 show programme.

So lovely to see a room buzzing with atmosphere and really refreshing to see more than just a handful of young'n's.

The highlight for me was meeting Mr & Mrs KWZ and despite not wanting to buy any a pens two bargains came home with me £50 for the pair. A Tacchia something or another and a Visconti Music Edition. Nibs on both are ridiculously smooth.

Inks are IG Gold and IG Blue #1 - both delicious!

I didn't see you! Sadly...

And I also forgot to say hi to Ian D:

I brought too little money... And too many good pens are there...

I got IG Gold too!

I was utterly overwhelmed by the sheer amounts of pens there! And meet a few new friends too! I'll make more of a plan next time.

Ooh, they look beautiful, particularly the one on the right.

I got there too late for a bottle of KWZ Honey, but did get one of Caroube de Chypre. Plus found the Homo Sapiens Steel Midi I'd been looking for, discussed plans for two pens from John Twiss to be made from Conway Stewart blanks, and right at the end, came across one of his bog oak pens with a delicious Franklin Christoph nib. Very happy!

John made me a pen from some CS canary yellow, with a special nib worked on by Oxonian. I am delighted with it, and I am sure you will enjoy yours (no affiliation just a satisfied customer etc etc).

I had a great day. Caught up with a bunch of people I haven't seen since Lichfield. Met Werner and Johann from CONID (of course how could I not buy a pen from them!), spent sometime with Henry aka Trufflefinder, left a pen with Oxonian (big queue, problem nib!) and finally picked a cheap Duofold from Tom W had discussed various Goldfink pens with him. Sarj and Ray had tables full of goodies but I managed to resist (a first time for everything!!). Picked up a bottle of Diamine anniversary blue black from Write Now (missed out on the sample size Shin-Kai - drat).

Interesting to see more Europen sellers at the show this time, as well as Bureau Direct and Pure Pens. The balance tipped towards modern pens at this show, and it was good to see a hugely improved selection of ink and paper available.

Happy day

I was delighted to see so much ink too, not just for sale in their boxes and bottles but set free in pens for people to try out.

Much respect to KWZ inks for filling a shedload of Preppys and Pluminixs with their ink and to the fabulous Niche Pens for their gazillion Ahabs filled with Dimine and Noodlers loveliness.

THANK YOU.

It made my show.

Happy day indeed. :)

Heard a new line at the show, tried helping someone with ink flow from a Parker 45, her converter was broken, I had a cartridge in my pocket and offered it to her, she refused saying that she was an environmentalist.

Ah well.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
