The third one has the body similar to that of Leo Tolstoy. Hammered metal I think.

The Leonardo is my favorite at the moment. My favorites change all the time. It's the best part about this pen addiction.

The Leonardo is art! That would be a nice piece to have. Wonderful.

Franz Kafka is enough for me :)

I like a lot of Montblanc pens, but I fancy them too little to justify the price. I hope I will be able to afford one of them in the future.

What a wonderful thread.

The Franz Kafka is such an elegant pen, just one picture is not enough.

The 1912 Heritage. Simple, elegant and beautiful.

I agree, simply elegant and beautiful. That nib I hear is delicious.

I had to take a screen shot of this one. I think it's called 1912. I'm not sure. It's still my Fav MB.

The 1914 is gorgeous. I have a soft spot for redish pens and this one would be very nice to own.

There's something about the silver rings and gold band. Hemingway is a very close second. Any MOP is a solid third, but there's something about the squared off ends.attachicon.gifIMG_0158.jpg

Thanks, that's an elegant vintage.

My personal favorite has always been the Dumas followed closely by the Poe.

Niiice! Love that marbled barrel. Thanks

Certainly not one I'll own in the near future, but the Grace de Monaco.

Like the Bergman, this one is pure elegance and beauty.

You've made such a nice summary of all the ideas! I enjoyed looking at them. I hope Kafka will be mine one day - I don't mind it's c/c, in fact I prefer converters due to the fact that I change inks quite often.

PS: I really like the dog in your avatar :)

Thanks! Max is our baby and my best friend. He's 8 already and it still feels like we just got him. They grow up too fast. He's lying next to my feet as I type this.

Beautiful Hemingway (the first of the Writers Edition), and the 2nd one is a 139?

The second one is his 136.

That is a 139 inspired pen by Renée of Scriptorium pens. She does good work.

Isn't that the Noblesse Oblige instead of the Noblesse?

Ah! This must be the Noblesse with the simpler nib.

Thanks Zaddick. Must include the original 139 then. I like both.

Yes it surely is and it's my favorite writer among all my pens including my Lamy 2000 series. Only downside is that the ink reservoir is pretty small and I have to refill it once every week at work.

Lamy 2000 FP, PP, BP, MFP & RB. Mont Blanc Meisterstück 161 Le Grand Platinum BP & Heritage 1912 FP.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
