New 205 Demonstrator Aquamarine

Today my feed showed me the most beautiful news! I love this colour...and I'm super excited. :D

Someone here photoshopped exactly this pen as in wishful thinking. Yes, some dreams come true, here is one of them. What do you think? "Yay Aquamarine" or "nay, not my colour"?

It's so pretty! I already have 3 M200/205s... B, B stub, and BB. I suppose I could use a Medium... *strokes imaginary goatee*

It looks good if it looks in real as it is in the photo.

I like it... a lot!

But I still have to find money for the M805 Vibrant Blue, and there is the rumor about a M400 Brown Tortoise... So, I guess I'll not be able to get the Aquamarine any time soon.

It reminds me of seeing the amethyst version that looked rather nice in the glamourised shots, but in real life it looks plain. I don't see this one being any different really.

I like it and will be picking one up. I don't mind the way the amethyst came out and I anticipate this will be similar in appearance. Shouldn't have too long to wait.

I hope I have enough money left over from my trip to grab one. I love the color. Not blue, not quite green.

Hurrah!

I really thought this one would turn out to be wishful thinking, and am so glad to be proved wrong.

I have one ordered from my local pen store. They said they would be getting them in August.

Having old 400's kept saying I didn't need 200's....liked the nib got a 215, then the Amethyst and if you have light from a window looks ok. Then I lucked into a W. Germany 200.

Was too late for the Amethyst ink except for cartridges.

Will have to look hard at the new aquamarine ink.

Well, I was close-ish, but it seems I was thinking of something a little darker than Pelikan was apparently envisaging. Much like the ink, in fact. Think I'll wait to see it in more prosaic pictures before I decide if I need to justify "just one more" M2xx (again!).

Pre-ordered! I've been waiting for this impatiently and Pelikan didn't disappoint.

Amethyst still available from a few places. Here for example. http://www.overjoyed.com.sg/lifestyle/fine-writing/ink/pelikan-edelstein-fountain-pen-ink-50ml-amethyst.html

But need to spend €80 for free worldwide shipping.

I've also seen it available from a couple of stockists in the US, but shipping for one bottle from there is exorbitant.

I think you've nailed it with your pre-visualisation, Grainweevil, and if the two were on the pen shop counter I would have yours in an instant.

But then I expect both images are equally digital (did you know that 75% of the IKEA catalogue is computer generated? I was frankly shocked) I like the black element to your pic. Pelikan are really good at colours though, so let's hope.

I would definitely like to have a factory stub on Pelikan M215, but I haven't seen them anywhere.

The closest you will come to a factory stub is their italic medium nib for the M2xx. I believe it came in plated and unplated forms but I have not seen these sold separate of a new pen and not frequently offered for sale. They came as an option on the M200 Black, M200 Cognac, M201 Mars Red, and M205 Neptune Blue if memory serves me correctly. Your best bet is to pick one of the broad SS nibs up and have a custom grind done. Likely to be more satisfying than the off the shelf italic medium that way.

I actually really like the italic that you can get for the M200. I have my beloved Pelikan enabler (Larry Dromgoole) switch them out for me.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
