Sheaffer Skrip Yellow Cart Mini Review

Did this little written review since there wasn't one up in the list for this ink.

Here is the scan (I tried to take photos but the ink came out too dark in all of them)

This is small BnR spiral notebook using Jinhao Safari knock-off, fine nib.

The ink is kind of watery, at least the Jinhao laid down a very wet line that took a while to dry; didn't try smearing it, just eye-balled it, it seemed to take much longer to dry than the orange did. Show- and some bleed-through on both the cheap memo and the thicker Strathmore Sketch. Doesn't look as 'flat' when it dries as the orange, it seems to hold a little depth. You can see a couple little hints at shading here and there, a slightly darker yellow - 'Pretty' and 'read' in 6th line, last paragraph - 'I', 'reviews' and r in 'there', l in 'list', i in 'is'. The color in the scan is pretty spot on.

The color, well, this is a very bright yellow, like a lemon. Unless you're holding it under a bright light, you won't be able to read it; anything else, all you'll be able to distinguish is that there's writing on the paper. I find the color very interesting, but I'm not quite sure why. It's certainly bright. Other than mixing or highlighting, though, I can't really see what you'd use it for.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

Thanks for this. I've had a pack of these cartridges for a long time but always suspected they'd be too light. Sheaffer's King's Gold, now discontinued, was a fabulous yellow, lovely and legible. Why on earth did they get rid of it in favor of this?!

You have been busy. Thank you for doing these.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
