On Pelikan - Need Your Thoughts

Recommended Posts

Hello all!

Someone is selling a few Pelikan fountain pens, and I thought I'd try my hand at a couple of them. It's just that I have no idea i they are genuine, plus no idea what are they going for nowadays. I dont't mind spending decent money, if the objects are all right. Hence your help required, if possible.

There is another item this guy is selling, marked Pelikan. Never seen one of these. Could it be a box for spares, or nibs or..? Anyone knows anything about its possible value?

Thank you all so much for your kind help!

You may find some good answers to your question here. You might also try the Pelican Forum here on FPN. There might be more Pelikaners hanging out there to answer your question.

The photos are all of genuine Pelikans.

The first I believe is an Ibis, the second I believe an M2xx, and the third a 400nn. I'd check out eBay and see what people are asking just to get a ballpark.

Thank you all for your input, much appreciated. I have decided to go for the Pelikan 400nn alone. The 2xx looks too much like my 150 and 400, so no go.

Still thinking about the Ibis. Looks in very good condition and all. And at 100 euro, can't go wrong, since Evilbay has some premium prices for this pen.

Anyways, many thanks!

Enjoy your new pens--they look great.

By the way, based on your user name, are you still shooting 8x11 film?

  1. That M200 is a great pen. I have one if not identical, then very similar. Mine has an OB nib.

Yes, very much so. Minoxit is the only 8x11 film supplier in the Central and Eastern Europe, and it is growing as a business.

Alas, too little time to enjoy my hobby. Visit the http://www.minoxit.com, check my latest albums.

Just to let you that the 400nn has arrived, and after cleaning, flushing and inking it, it is a very good looking pen. Writes an F line.

Thank you again for your help.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
