Liberty's Elysium, A Freedom Ink

I just wrote a blog post about my purchase of Liberty's Elysium. I don't want to push politics on this site but merely mention that inks tug at our emotions and empathies. I bought a bottle of this ink as much for patriotism as for the color/colour.

My favorite blue ink at the moment. It is currently inked up in my blue Karas Customs INK in medium. Lovely combination.

My P45 is a bit wet for this ink, it comes out a darker blue, not a 'bright' blue :(

Until I find a pen that will not clog with this ink, and will write dryer (and brighter) than my P45, it comes in second to PR DCSS blue as my favorite blue.

It's one of my favourite inks, although it's supposedly not "permanent" by Noodler's standards, my water test had the paper (if memory serves, a 24 lb writing paper*) being erased through before the ink was gone. Good enough for me, as my cheques are on tamper-sensitive stock anyhow.

My regular-carry pens for it are a Pelikan M200 with a GPS fine nib, and a 1946 (restored) Parker 51 with a 14k fine-ish nib.

*I do most of my writing, and all of my testing, on common stock. I'm not going to be making notes, and every-day use, on fancy (and expensive) stock. That might be plebian, but it's practical. My letterhead is 28# Hammermill bond, one of these days I'll get around to changing it to Crane's Crest or Currency bond. (Which, frankly, is a lovely paper, but a PITA to buy around here.) -- lwj

My daily ink also - I rock it for notes and paperwork.

Lovely blue, and the partially bulletproof part is a big plus, given how I've had spills over my stuff.

A sincere man am I
From the land where palm trees grow,
And I want before I die
My soul's verses to bestow.

All those moments will be lost in time.
Like tears in rain.
Time to die.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
