Sankodo Ozone Blue

This is a very cool ink on the right paper. It's OK on absorbent papers, but it rally shines on papers like Tomoe River or Graphilo.

Oof, now this is gorgeous   Yes, with the scarcity of Sailor inks these days I have not really obtained many new ones. However, I will have to give Cigar another shot and ink one of my broader nibs with that! It looks stunning on that paper.

And, the yen fell through 100 today, climbing back to 102.

When it was 120 yen to the dollar these were $18. Now over $21. Plus shipping and handling etc.

Assuming you can even find it.

Ooooh that looks really really pretty!~

but for me it's 'look, can't touch' as I don't have the time and means to find and buy sailor other than their regular line (nano & seasons), bungbox (from massdrop), and kobe ( reasonable price and availability from cooljapan)

It's a nice ink, but I have the impression that I already have several inks of this hue.

Honestly, it and Kobe #37 are very, very close. Ozone just has that very subtle purple undertone that, to my eye at least, Minatojima lacks (and it only really shows up in the sheen). Also, the Hading from light blue to dark seems a little more pronounced in Ozone. In the Graphilo swatch (2nd pic), you can see there's a lot going on in the ink, but in practice, the two inks are nearly identical.

You are right. It is indeed #37 Minatojima Island Blue that this ink reminded me of.

OOOOO, I really want this though. I found Island Blue to be beautiful, but a tad too dry for my tastes.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Pretty. Sheen reminds me of Akkerman Shocking Blue, which is a danged sight easier to get.

(Wow, just had a weird thought -- it was only a couple of years ago that Akkerman inks were practically unobtainable here in the States -- maybe there's hope....)

This is probably one of my favourite blue sailor exclusives! Man, I love it. It's got a unique hue that I don't think I have a lot of. The only problem is that it is SO saturated, it can be hard to flush completely from a pen. I advise against putting this into a pen with a filling system that is hard to flush or maintain!

Yeah, it's definitely super-saturated; I can how it might be a pain to clean out of some pens.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
