I'm Travelling And I Wanna Buy Stuff

So I officially begin my vacation tomorrow. I don't know if this is the right forum for this... but here it goes. Can anybody give me any tips of good places to buy pens and ink in the following states... Colorado, Utah, Nevada, Arizona, Southern California? I'm driving from Nebraska to California and was hoping to find a couple of cool places to buy pens and ink. Any ideas would be really appreciated. They don't have to be large pen dealers, just places that carry either ink, pens, or both. Thanks in advance for the help.

Come see some of my handmade pens!!!

In southern California, don't miss the Fountain Pen Shop in Monrovia. Be sure to call ahead - the selection is wonderful and Fred has forgotten more things about pens than most will ever know, but I've heard of those who just dropped by and found it closed. I always call first and have never had a problem. Fred has amazing vintage, some new pens (sorry I can't remember, but I wasn't shopping for new and have poor impulse control, so I am better off not looking) and can custom tune for you on the spot. If you love pens and inks it is a must-see.

Vroman's bookstore in Pasadena has many new pens and a surprising amount of ink as well.

You could drive North to Millbrae from LA on your way home (the far end of I-80 is in San Francisco) and we could celebrate your use of I-5 at Peter's Cafe and I could provide an astonishing quantity of pens you could purchase.

Let me know what you are looking for now in case I need to look for it...

Salt Lake City - Tabula Rasa in Trolley Square. Stationery place but they do have some pens and inks. Trolley Square is a quirky mall built in old trolley barns.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
