Hello guys, i am alessandra from Italy !!! Nice to meet you all. My boyfriend is about to graduating and his parents are going to gift him a green rolex submariner and i want to buy him a present too. I was thinking about buying a pen for him green colored ( not the ink ). I know literally nothing about this big world so i would like to ask you if you can help me. I already know he has a montblanc fountain pen ( classic black, the one dedicated to chopin if i am right ). I think i will stay under 250, i know for a fact that it isn't necessary to be fountain.

Best regards, thanks for your time !!!

Since you're here, it might as well be a fountain pen anyway! I think a solid-color pen with a brushed metal cap would match very well with a Submariner. The solid color to go with the dial and bezel and the cap and trim to match the case and bracelet.

If it's a stainless steel Rolex, I'd suggest a Triumph Imperial with a stainless steel nib and trim, like this onehttp://www.sheaffertarga.com/Imperial%20and%20Triumph/images/440%20green2%20.jpg

If he gets a gold Rolex, then a Sheaffer Legacy like this would look great:

I think the shiny lacquer would match very well with a Submariner's ceramic bezel (assuming it's a brand-new watch).

The Legacy is much more expensive (and elusive), by the way. I'd guess maybe around $200 if you get a good deal, while the Triumph Imperial probably hovers at around $70, I'd guess.

It is a brand new rolex, the newest green submariner rolex 116610lv. I think fine or medium is good enough !!

Any other ideas ? Thank you Mint !

In that case, look for silver-colored trim on the pen. And also pay attention to what your boyfriend usually does with his pens. If what he does (or will do) at work requires constant pen usage, then get a fine nib. If he's into doodling then a medium nib will be smoother and more comfortable to use. Also, pay attention to the nib types. The diamond-shaped inlaid nibs on the pens I posted are really beautiful and pleasing to look at, and really do stand out.

When I think of green and quality fountain pen I think Pelikan just find the one in your price range.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
