Dr. PenFection - that pen screams out for Mother's Pink by BungBox. (Not an entry)

You are probably right about that! Thanks for the comment.

Sailor-Tokiwa-matsu

Sailor-Oku-yama

J. Herbin- Emerald of Chivor

The colors above are three of my favorites. I think the Oku-yama would be perfect in that pen. The pen is gorgeous! I am sorry it didn't work out for your mother. You did pick a lovely pen out. Jinhao really outdid themselves with the beauty of this pen.

My favorite color of ink is green and maroon/burgundy. I prefer Diamine, or Sailor inks the most. But I have ink by other brands too.

Wonderful! Your number is 6!

I definitely want to try some additional Sailor inks. I love Yama-Dori, but especially Nioi-Sumire.

I have Yama-dori and love it. I have never tried the Nioi-Sumire. It does seem like a very nice color though. (I do like purple ink too)

I have 4 Sailor inks so far. :D

Hi there! :)

Wow, this is a beautiful, beautiful pen--I would love to enter the draw!!

If what I have read is correct, tomorrow should mark 30 days since I signed up and my designation should switch to Gold Member; but if it doesn't, feel free to remove my number from the pile!

My favorite ink so far is Diamine Ancient Copper, though I am a big fan of Diamine Shimmering Seas (No One is immune to glitter)...and I sometimes like Noodler's inks just because of the bottles.

Thanks for the generous pif!!

Congratulations, KKay! You'll have to get photos of the pen and writing samples for the rest of us :-).

IrishEyes, you already see a photo, and it was a good one. I got the pen this afternoon. I think it is a very nice pen. I'd never tried a Jinhao before. The medium nib must be similar to a Japanese M. (I'm guessing) I still haven't tried a regular western medium, but I'd imagine it would be wider than this. The pen is lovely, and it is on the heavy side. I am very pleased with it. DrPenfection even threw in a couple of ink samples to top it off. I am trying one of them now. :D

I may put out a writing sample, but my penmanship is not great.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
