Fountain Pen Pif

Recommended Posts

Good afternoon,

I have a lovely Jinhao pen that I would like to offer as a Pif.

fpn_1465932899__pif_pen.jpg

I purchased the pen for my mother but it is too heavy for her very frail hands. I inked it up twice and have written a few lines with it. It writes well and has the typical Jinhao medium nib. A converter is included.

Since it was purchased with the intent of giving it away, I would love to Pif it to a fellow member FPNer.

Rules: You must be a Gold member of FPN, with a mailing address within CONUS.

If you are interested, please reply to this thread by telling me one of your favorite ink brands or colors. You will be assigned a number. Then, on Friday night, June 17, my mother will randomly pick the number of the winner. I will then notify the lucky winner on this thread and by PM.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

This is not an entry as I am not from conus. But it's a beautiful pen and the winner of this generous PIF will be lucky for sure. My favourite ink is Sheaffer Skrip Blue-black.

How lovely! I would love to be considered for this. I think my favorite inks are Private Reserve Sherwood Green, Diamine Red Dragon, Diamine Bilberry, Iroshizuki Tsuki-yo, and Montblanc Toffee Brown.

How generous of you!

I would love to be considered.

My fave ink colors are probably J. Herbin Rouge Hematite (with the heavy gold), KWZI Hunter Green and Cherry, and Noodler's BSB (stop throwing vegetables...).

So, what's your point?

(Mine is a flexible F.)

Wonderful! You are number 5!

Love the KWZI Hunter Green and Cherry. Many people have a love/hate thing for BSB.

Dr. PenFection - that pen screams out for Mother's Pink by BungBox. (Not an entry)

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Sailor-Tokiwa-matsu
Sailor-Oku-yama
J. Herbin- Emerald of Chivor

The colors above are three of my favorites. I think the Oku-yama would be perfect in that pen. The pen is gorgeous! I am sorry it didn't work out for your mother. You did pick a lovely pen out. Jinhao really outdid themselves with the beauty of this pen.

My favorite color of ink is green and maroon/burgundy. I prefer Diamine, or Sailor inks the most. But I have ink by other brands too.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
