...and thus starts the constant discussion...

...how to determine our fellow FPN brethren we've yet to meet?

Every year we devise a plan...that never seems to work. I'm keeping my mouth shut this time and I'll let the rest of you discuss...

Thoughts??

So, what's your point?

All of you should wear FPN pins.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Create a Ghostly Avatar and I'll send you a letter. Check out some Ink comparisons: The Great PPS Comparison

Don't know where to start?  Look at the Inky Topics O'day.  Then, see inks sorted by color: Blue Purple Brown Red Green Dark Green Orange Black Pinks Yellows Blue-Blacks Grey/Gray UVInks Turquoise/Teal MURKY

Are we gonna do a picture again or are we going to go six years again?

Lets do it and make it an annual tradition!

The white ones and then we could write our FPN name below the graphic.

Pakman, will you be right inside the main door again, so you'll be the first familiar face I see? Then I can get an FPN pin from you when I arrive.

Hmmmmmm. It took six years for a photo to show up. I know who Pakman is and he knows me.

I've always been the stealthy one, yet I always have a cowboy hat on.

Your on Pakman. We'll do our own picture each year.

I know I can't wait either. We love the Dallas Pen Show and always have a great time. The Lone Star Pen Club (Houston) usually has a lot of faces there. This year shoud be no different. We defiitely need to show ur FPN names. See everyone there!

This will be my first show! Super excited.

Just curious will there be any older pens in the sub $100 range available?

There will be over 100 vendors and literally thousands of vintage pens, many of them well under $100.

The amount of vintage pens offered each year is staggering! But, I'm sure I need (another) one! :yikes:

So, what's your point?

oh wow. ok I'm gonna have to to do some research on some pens. I've been leery of buying second hand pens off ebay but this is different.

There will be pen restoration and nib tuning professionals in attendance as well. You should be able to obtain a vintage pen and leave with it functioning in better than new condition.

Look forward to seeing you next month.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
