I'll be there for sure. Too bad about the Pelikan Hub being a week earlier than the show this year. That was really convenient being able to do both in the same trip.

I will be thinking of you.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Create a Ghostly Avatar and I'll send you a letter. Check out some Ink comparisons: The Great PPS Comparison

Don't know where to start?  Look at the Inky Topics O'day.  Then, see inks sorted by color: Blue Purple Brown Red Green Dark Green Orange Black Pinks Yellows Blue-Blacks Grey/Gray UVInks Turquoise/Teal MURKY

I live in Arlington and am interested in going. What goes on at a pen show? Do I bring anything? Do I have to buy tickets in advance? Is it like a gun show?

There are all kinds of vendors at pen shows. New pens, old pens, fancy pens, plain pens, expensive pens, cheap pens... If you can imagine it, it will most likely show up at the pen show at some point. I haven't been to a pen show in Dallas yet, but the last 3 that I have been to you could purchase tickets at the door when you got there and I assume that will probably be the case at this show. Even if you are not looking to buy it is quite possibly one the most friendly places I have ever been for a pen collector. It is a great place to find focus for your collection, whether it be a particular brand or type of pen, it will be there.

The pen is always mightier than the sword... Unless you are in a sword fight, then the sword may be the better option.

Just make sure and bring your state or federal id so you can have your background check before exercising your first amendment rights.

But sell trade. It's all done. Yes. You pay at the door. Lots of talking, learning, etc. First and last people I see are Danny and PAKMAN each year. PAKMAN and I had to take our own picture last year. No one had ever taken ours and posted it, even though PAKMAN suits next to Danny who had his picture posted each year.

You will see everything from pens and pencils of all sorts to watches, maybe some cameras and all kinds of things in between.

I'll be there. Full beard and hat.

Peace and Understanding

Sciencechick, where do you teach? I work maintenance and drive a school bus for Campbell.

Oh yeah. I will be on the hunt for some parts. Blind cap for P51. Cap for Ever sharp.

Going to trade many pens off. I have to many.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
