Just out of curiosity, since I'm waiting on the payment request, are Schmidt nib/feed combos and JoWo nib/feed combos interchangeable?

I've been thinking about getting some different colored JoWo nibs and if they are, then I'd prefer to get a pen with a Schmidt nib to save myself a little money when I switch.

Its not possible to interchange or swap between a JoWo unit and Schmidt unit..

Okay, thank you. I was unsure and didn't think it hurt to ask. I will stick with my original order then :]

Just wondering if there is the ASA brand engraving on these pens. Because i'm keen if there isn't! I like a plain pen :)

Ah, rats! I should have asked that too. I definitely don't want any branding to mark the surface. If there is then I shall have to ask for a refund. :(

Made my payment for order 5779!

EoC, if you email Subramaniam, with your order number and request for no engraving, I think they will comply. But you have to make clear, of course, who the request is coming from!

Hi there, I haven't jumped on one of these group buys before but this looks promising. I was wondering, though, if you'd mind answering a couple of questions for me?

(1) Is the Ambitious nib plain stainless steel (this would be my preference), or is it gold-coloured?

(2) Can the Ambitious #35 nib be easily exchanged for other #35 or #6-sized nibs?

Thanks in advance for your answers!

Which email address should I use? There are two - the asa@asapens.in or unikservices@hotmail

Edit: never mind. I sent a message to both.

Thank you so much for the quick answer. I think I will take the risk on this one - I'm not a great fan of dual tone nibs, especially if the clip and other 'furniture' is stainless steel, but if it's possible to swap nibs then I have a number of plain JoWo #6 nibs that may fit.

EDITED TO ADD: OK, I'm in!

I was just looking over the pics to see whether ASA branding is there or not too. ASA should have a hall mark, na? Its a good brand by now. Should have a distinguishing mark, what say Lakshminarayan Sir?

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
