A Few Highlights From My Estie Collection.

Here's a few pics of my Estie collection, just because.

I have many more, these are just the highlights of my collection, (minus a red jeweled nurses pen but I've posted it here before). Most of these I haven't ever posted or are newer acquisitions.

Hope you enjoy.

First up, Bandless (still searching for a Blue one)

Next are my Estie Icicles

And just a couple of stragglers.

It is nice to keep an Estie in service. I use a blue SJ as my pocket pen.

WOO HOO!!

A Blue Bandless is on its way thanks to a great FPN member, one who has come to my rescue before, when I was first starting down this rabbit hole.

So, that completes my Bandless collection, finally!

Thank you! You know who you are.

How sure are you that you are done with the bandless pens?

Well, I was only searching for one of each color, and now that I've completed that, I figured I was done. Unless another Bandless with an Imprint shows up, I think I'm done.

Aren't I?

You know, next to the Dollar pens, the Deluxe LK is my second favorite pen. Also available in many colors. Just sayin'... B)

I've actually got a couple of Bandless desk pens, but they're in the "for sale" pile. They just don't interest me.

The LK, not the SM? I think the SM is a bit sturdier, somehow. Reminds me more of a J with a steel cap than the LK does. But I agree that they're nice pens.

I like the SM, too, but it has that funky cap thing. I really like the balance of the LK.

Great collection, JDL! The bandless Esties are my favorites...beautiful well saturated coloring. I'm also one short of finishing my collection but it's the dubonet red I'm missing. I have 3 of the bandless desk pens (red, copper, green) but they've been more difficult to find. There are many beautiful vintage pens out there but Esterbrook will always be my favorite pens.

I've had bad luck, purchasing two ester brooks in a row that had leaking issues. Had sworn them off. But I still find them oddly seductive. And I LOVE the red marbled "straggler" in your third picture.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
