I Swear I Saw An Aurora 88 Sole

Ok. Maybe I am going crazy, but I swear I saw a post a day or two ago announcing an Aurora 88 Sole, not an Optima, but an Aurora 88. Sole. Coming this summer, $795.

Am I crazy? Does someone know where a link to that is?

Or is this one of those things that got taken down because it's not supposed to be announced yet?

I can't stop buying pens and it scares me.

I got excited until I saw the price. Since there will only be 888 pieces, I guess the street price will remain at MSRP until they are all sold.

It is possible to buy a NOS Optima Sole at half the price

And, IMO, the Optima Sole is a better looking pen. YMMV.

I like the 88 model and its good to see a new 88 release instead of optima after optima but that looks like an Ipsilon with a proper nib!

I don't like the black head on the cap and surely they could have made the piston nob yellow as well?

Oh well wait for the released model, it could change... like the Abyss did.

$895!? Lets hope that's not realized.

My wife has the Optima Sole, but I do really like the looks of this model. I have an 88 Demonstrator, which is my favorite of my Aurora pens. Love the shape and feel in hand.

Yeah, $895 is more than I paid for my LE 88 Demo with gold trim. That's a big chunk of change!!

Still. That is a crazy good looking pen, and very tempting. My precioussss... 😈

Thank heavens I saw this post; I was getting tempted by the Monviso but seeing this I'll hold off and wait ...

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
