Anyone have further information about whether MB intends to release an uncontaminated version of this ink? If they do, then I intend to wait to exchange my infected bottle.

They aren't exchanging bottles of contaminated yellow for replacement yellow as it might not be issued in the foreseeable future. They are refunding money, or exchanging for other inks. Then if they do reissue yellow ink, you can buy it again.

I see this afternoon that Fountain Pen Hospital in NY is advertising Golden Yellow, stating "Late June Delivery."

The ambassador I spoke with three weeks ago hasn't gotten back to me yet. (She was going to check in with Montblanc regarding pen maintenance post Golden Yellow exposure...) I will say that they were very fast at replacing the inks. I am away from Boston for the summer, but my building confirmed that a package was delivered from MB. I will be back home at the end of August, so I don't know if they included a letter or any other kind of information with the replacement inks, but if they did I will post a photo of it here.

Has anyone had any luck exchanging at a boutique? I was in the boutique at Tyson's Galleria the other day and the saleswoman didn't even believe me that the ink even existed.

I have a bottle of the golden yellow that does not appear to have any "matter" in it when I shake it.

But,I inked up my Edison Mina with it about 2 months ago and then sort of left the pen sitting there, using it on and off. This week when I uncapped the pen, I was hit with an awful smell, very pungent and acidic.

Is this a sign of the SITB problem? It's not a "musty" smell, which is what everyone else describes it as.

For what it's worth, I also separately extracted 5ml out of my main MB bottle into a vial at the same time I inked my Edison ~2 months ago, and the ink in the vial does not have the same pungent, acidic smell.

Current Wishlist:

Visconti, Visconti, and...more Visconti! (And some ST Duponts too). (Ok fine, getting on the Omas and Montblanc trains now too. Toot toot.) (And maybe on the Montegrappa one too, but only for the Miyas.)

A year late, in my wife having won a small piece of jewelry at a live auction decided to balance accounts and stopped at my B&M and told the clerk to pick inks......so he showed her the inks...the last he had, Golden Yellow....which is much darker than everyone elses....which is good....shades well, and 112723...has no problems I can see nor smell.

Like this ink much more than Ordinary darker orange and pale blue Davis.

Pictures in the other two threads.

In reference to P. T. Barnum; to advise for free is foolish, ........busybodies are ill liked by both factions.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
